At 1st I was looking for a cheap way to make a change. But after paying $30+ for a frame and another $6 in shipping per item on top of $10-$20 for a print... I'm thinking why not do it right.
But right now I guess I'm in the "gathering information" phase of this change. I'm still dropping more cash then I should on Media lol. |

This thread interests me. I worked at movie theaters for almost 10 years from '93 to '02 (ish) and probably have 300 posters ranging from Timecop (the first one I was given as an employee) to the Star Wars posters for both the re-releases and episodes 1 & 2 (missed out on 3 though).
My main problem is finding affordable frames to put them in. Suncoast, where I bought a few frames, went out of business a long time ago here in the Detroit area. Are there any well known online sites that sell frames for the 27x40(41) size posters? |

Frame wise, just Google "movie poster 27x40 frames" and you will find places that sell them. I can't recommend any personally as I get everything framed professionally with UV glass, acid-free backing, etc. If you have a rare expensive poster, then you want to protect them, for example a $500 poster should not go in a $20 frame, if you know what I mean. Some local places that sell frames are Aaron Brothers and Michael's Arts & Crafts which I believe are both national chains. |

Remember usually each week, or every other week, Michael's has a flyer in the Sunday paper, which generally features a 40% off any one item (sometimes even 50% off coupons too) so if they have a $30 plastic frame, with the 40% off coupon you can get it for $18. I dont know if they have these flyers in their stores, but if not, simply ask your neighbors for their flyers if they dont want them and if you need to purchase more than one frame. I have never used them myself, but I am sure they are simple frames to use.

Hey Kinsella5,
Nice to see a poster dealer on this site. I would rather save my money up and buy an original poster for my wall. Reprints are nice, but there is nothing like the look and feel of an original theater issue piece of paper. I got into the collecting side of posters about 4 years ago. I only buy originals. I haven't purchased anything lately though. I kind of went crazy that first year or two. You can see some of my posters on my gallery link to the left. These are just the ones in my home theater. I have a lot more at my office and retail golf store. Do you have a retail sales site? |

Walmart sells frame that fit movie posters, 20 bucks a pop though. I have worked at a theater for 3+ years now so I got a nice collection going including 5 different dark knight and 2 watchmen. I also have 9 8 differen posters for the spirit. I mainly have comic movies and kid movies for my son. One of my faves is my Cars poster with all the Cars on it.

Watchmen had four styles, including the IMAX version. The Cars style you have was the final style and that was an incredibly difficult poster for dealers to get, as is the case for a lot of the Disney/Pixar titles but that one particular poster was a hard one. I got them in and still have them, but I just remember how hard it was for dealers to obtain that style, yet the advance style was pretty common and not nearly as popular. |
