i remember hearing that there is a strong chance that the movie files will be in 1080p on the PS3, while the gameplay is likely to stay at 720p. How in the world can an XBOX 360 support all the 1080p video with only a DVD?
I'm sure they will have to make more sacrifices than just that!
Maybe this will be a good way to show off the superiority of the PS3

BRILLIANT!

And yes... I would play in Japanese. They just have better voice actors overall.

In the demo realtime is 720p native (4xAA?) and FMV is 1080p native.

Right, I should have linked to the source that explains it a little more since the link I provided made it sound like the game actually ran at 1080p.

Therefore, the amount of storage required for all the cut scenes in the game could add up very quickly. For example, most Final Fantasy games have close to 1 hour of cgi videos, so assuming a similar trend for Final Fantasy XIII, even at a lower video bit rate of 20 Mb/s, the storage required is around 9GB. The CGI cutscenes alone will take up almost 1/5 of a dual layer blu ray disc, or a full DVD. This amount is not even counting all the other videos that will not be cgi, but rather, the game's engine quality graphics with extra filters and such. So while this might not affect the game's end result on the PS3, it does add to the question “How many discs will the 360 version be on?” which Square Enix has so far refused to answer.
That little bit made me chuckle.

i still hold out that this is a huge publicity stunt and towards the end we'll see the 360 vers. being scrapped due to limitations of 360/dvd.

HA ;p

but ya i know i doubt it too.

So learn Japanese... except it will probably take a few years

I saw a screenshot comparison between an upscaled 720 and a full 1080 image. Very noticeable difference to me!

This technically falls under 'Rumor', but other websites are reporting that in spite of the fact that they state that the Blu-Ray could handle Japanese voices, the PS3 version will not have them so that the version is equivalent to the 360 version.

If you read the original source it does not say either way, all it says is that the Blu-Ray *could* handle it, not that it will be included.

If the 360 version doesn't have Japanese dialogue and the PS3 does, I bet there's at least a slim chance that they may make the Japanese dialogue a download on XBLM.

I picked up Infinite Undiscovery recently and have been playing it for a bit - good gravy the voice acting is horrendous in that game. They give you the option to turn off the dub and just have subtitles, but a japanese audio track with those subtitles would be so much more satisfying
