Good lord, she is amazing. She should definitely have been cast for the live action movie.

Seriously, i agree with your sentiment. It all depends on how it's handled. If the traumatic event is primarily designed to titillate by reducing the act to something agreeably consensual despite the protestations, then i find it distasteful. If, however, the traumatic event in question is handled with a certain sense of non-indulgence, then i can support the idea that something like that would trigger a change in a person. Rarely, if ever, in real life do sexual assault victims become bad ass crusaders seeking revenge, so in that instance i suppose there is something quite distasteful about using rape as a device for action. But it's fiction i suppose.

Anyone else feel they missed out on giving the Legend / Underworld Era a movie version? Emily Blunt or Rebecca Furgesson around 2009/11 Era would have been perfect for Lara.
Rebecca Ferguson would be perfect now.

Then we get the reboot where character development amounts to falling down repeatedly and getting impaled on sticks.
And that's why I definitely don't want to see it in the film - it might work for a boiled down plot in a game but for a movie it seems cheap.

This is true. I guess a prime example of it working would be last year's Christine, which explored more depth to the situation rather than rape = instant strong woman.

They at least got the first part of it out of the way, which was getting her look right. I'm with you and others that have said they've nailed it.

So do I. I finally bought it and have it coming today. I hope to start it shortly after I'm done with Horizon: Zero Dawn. I've put it off for far too long.

I don't think Rebecca would work now. She has a really aged face. Could pass as a 38 year old more than a 20 something. Same with Emily Blunt sadly. Motherhood has aged her really badly. Emily in Edge of Tomorrow was just sublime.

As for Camilla, has you guys seen her acting in True Blood??? She is horrendous. Plus her VO in the first TR is suspect at best. She improved for ROTTR, but she's not that great of an actress at all.

Aged face? Ridiculous, Rebecca is stunning. How old are you, 12?

Not every actress needs to look like a teenager.

Funny how they don't cast a lady like in the original games.... I mean god forbid a woman has breasts and wears booty shorts with pistols. But it's fine if a boney chick plays the role. The former is sexist but the latter is not? Lame.

They already did. It came out nearly two decades ago. We got two of them even.

I'd want to see a movie inspired by the 4th game, with Lara being an apprentice tomb raider with Werner Von Troy or whatever his name was and that whole story with him. That was a cool story.

Perhaps because the old games were very cartoony when human characters were concerned?
Angelina Jolie had to be padded and even then they couldn't pad her that much because otherwise stunts became really uncomfortable, also a woman with old Lara's proportions in real life would probably wear the kind of bra that kept things as compressed as possible so she wouldn't be as visibly buxom as in the old games when going adventuring.

That whole rivalry between them was fascinating for a story within a video game. It's still my favorite narrative of all the games. I really wish they could've adapted that whole game into a film. The whole adult Lara portion would've been great as a found-footage film similar to As Above, So Below, especially with how that game ends.

And you were close, his name is Werner Von Croy.

Alicia look fantastic as new Lara. If they are able to get the story close to the reboot story then the movie looks to be solid.

If it wasn't for the fact that I hate that old control scheme and camera with a passion I'd probably buy and play the old games.
As it is I'm content of having played the first reboot, though I might need a new video card for RoTTR, since mine is very cheap and very old, I'd really with they put out a demo.

As much as I love Ferguson, I'd say no.

I'd much rather have another Jolie Tomb Raider, would be interesting to see a "mature" Lara.

But Alicia looks fine to me, can't wait to see this.

If your playing a character who is a teenager then yes, you should look like one...

Have the people complaining even played the new games? Alicia looks fine in comparison. She's only a smidge thinner.

They are definitely going by the reboot games.

You know that means this could potentially be R rated
