If there is a decent picture gain I might bite but an incremental one is not worth 60 bucks. There's going to be another "better version" coming in a few years probably. When does this nonsensical upgrading end? It doesn't help hearing all these different opinions from different sources on different tech. Just wait until the disc is in the hands of a reputable reviewer and go from there. I understand the excitement but I think some of this hope is wishful thinking.

I mean, it's Universal. They kind of don't do big remasters (Shaun of the Dead is an outlier) of existing discs unless a boutique picks it up and Jurassic will never go to a boutique.

I think expecting a new master in a few years is much more wishful thinking, considering Universal thus far has avoided re-doing any of their 4K catalogue. These are the first titles that I even know of off-hand that they've bothered to re-do aside from Shaun of the Dead. The original 4K discs for JP first debuted 7 years ago dude.

When physical discs stop being made.

Probably all true. Still seems not worth the upgrade imo. I'm not so vested in collecting. I don't know what Universal does or doesn't do so then maybe this could be the best version they release.

It will go to a boutique... 15 years or more from now.

Universal wouldn't even license Jaws 2-4 out. Jurassic isn't going anywhere.

It was definitely an improvement when I compared the two.

But then there were some scenes that looked identical to me, like when they first arrive at the park and encounter the dinosaurs for the first time. I didn’t notice anything different comparing the two there.

I can say that I liked it well enough that I’d watch the ITunes stream now over the disc, but it’s also definitely not a massive remastering that people want for the film.

In some scenes, even subtle changes would suffice. In the Brachiosaurus scene, the gamma value is not right and the blue of the sky has too much magenta. The finale with the T-Rex in the visitor center also has this problem, but it is much more serious.

The scenes in the badlands are more yellow and the skin colors are generally too cool.

Does anybody have any info on the individual 4K steelbooks showing as releasing on the same day? I looked around a little while back at Zavvi, Gruv, Walmart, etc, thinking they are exclusives, but found nothing. Not sure if they are just place-holders on this site for future single releases and that they've just been plopped there for now?

Could you also made a comparison of the Brachiosaurus scene and the Dinosaurs rules the earth shot in the finale?

What is about the blue tint and the skintones?

I mean, which studio does at this point. Remasters only seem to happen at filmmaker's request/involvement, otherwise 4Ks are usually one and done.

It's a pity, as it is precisely these scenes that are most affected by the problems. Which scenes have changed? Is the blue now between the previous hue of the 4K Blu-ray and the hue of the 3D Blu-ray?

Spielberg could easily get a new 8k scan remaster of this done if he wanted to, but he obviously thinks it looks fine or more likely doesn't care. In any case I agree that's the only way it would happen. This is all assuming the negative loss story isn't true.

Very strange, especially the scenes with the T-Rex look very different. Yes, I know it's just photos taken with a cell phone. I wish the ugly magenta was finally gone.

A photo of a screen taken with a camera is not the same as a photo of a screen taken on a software level. (ever heard of Print Screen in Windows?)

The former is just a photo, the latter is a acreenshot.

Get it?

Everyone (apparently not you) in the blu-ray.com community knows what a screenshot is and it means only one thing here, no matter what your precious AI is telling you.

Speaking of which, here's Grok:

Quote:
A screenshot is a digital image that captures the contents displayed on a computer or device screen at a specific moment. It’s like taking a photo of what’s on your monitor, phone, or tablet, including open apps, websites, or anything else visible. Screenshots are commonly used to save or share information, troubleshoot issues, or document something on the screen. They can be taken using built-in tools (like Print Screen on Windows or Command+Shift+3 on macOS) or specialized software.

^^I don't want to add to this argument but Google AI shouldn't be used as a source, since it quotes random people on Reddit and such out of context. That said, Google AI said this when I typed in the same question as you: "However: If you are simply taking a picture of the TV screen with a separate camera (like your phone camera), it is typically referred to as a photograph or photo of the screen."
