As someone who immediately turns over every Shout/Scream release to the original poster art I'm all for a film's original artwork being the cover (all those different covers for the Bond series in its various releases on DVD and Blu and never simply with the original, and glorious, poster art). That being said, this cover art ain't half bad.

Letting this lengthy film enjoy a higher bitrate with the extras consigned to a second disc is a smart move; would that Universal would do as much for Scarface.

Yeah, I prefer something closer to this:

Maybe not the floating heads as much, but the background fits the film better than the newer artwork.

In this case at least, it's because the film switched distributing studios. Fox is releasing this BD, but Warners originally released the film. They control the trailers and put them on their DVD and BD releases. I recommend picking up a copy of the WB BD cheap, just for the trailers, they really are amazing.

They're not going to use the original poster because the old BD did and they will want it to look different. I bet the UK art is used here, which I am fine with. I think it looks nice.

Considering how much worse it could've been I think that art is great.

I wouldn't be shocked if Fox couldn't use the original poster art even if they wanted, since Warner Bros probably controls all the existing poster art.

Same reason, I suspect, that My Fair Lady doesn't use the iconic poster art for the BD releases.
