The debossing is of course a nice idea. What can you say about the film grain and the night scenes? |

A new professionally performed postpriduction should suffice here. Simply reduce the megenta, add yellow and add some cyan to the night scenes. And of course the DNR should be removed. |

So, is the picture better with Dolby Vision? Is 4K good?

Am I about to spend $60 on yet another release of JP just because they got rid of some magenta here and there? Absolutely!

my bad, i think what i was thinking of was Indiana Jones 4 (which is something that also might not be true but something i read on one of these review sites). I was just in the middle of a good rant and didn't bother checking.

No worries. Indy 4 was Spielberg's first DI *but* they also took it out to a neg cut so the 4K transfer was done from that, presumably with upscales for the VFX.

I'm glad we're moving in the right direction by getting rid of the ugly, old color grading, but I'm not gonna shell out for a double-dip until we get a full, proper remaster. It's insane that this movie of all movies is still stuck with this crappy master.

Be prepared for a very long wait. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes over 10, 15 or even 20 years for a full new master to happen. Besides, the current master is not great but could be A LOT worse.
