I feel like this ran in tandem with the release of the new film, as the previous trilogy just closed out.

We might have to wait till this "Rebirth" trilogy finishes, if that is their overall plan. It's hard to call it anything else because it still has the World tagline. Wasn't it originally going to be called Jurassic City? (obviously that might not fit ita story though)

Seeing a little more texture on the kid's cap, too -- looks like genuinely less grain management, not a degrain/regrain

Yes, much improved. Worth a first-time investment.

Now somebody needs to compare the others.

Better than I expected, tbh. Even though it's clearly the same master.

Now the dilemma... I only want JP, I couldn't care less about the other two. What are the chances this will see an individual release?

Meh. I feel like I already make the appropriate color shift in my projector settings, when I slightly "regrade it" by adding yellow (shifting away from blue/magenta). Still on the fence about whether I need this or not.

Eh, that's enough to convince me. I have the digibook from 2018 so it'll be nice to have an actual case with better visuals.

Hard to say but my guess (knowing Universal) would be for the 35th Anniversary. Example being Jaws for its 50th this month.

It looks better, of course, but the colors are still a little too pale and the contrast too flat. Here for comparison examples of a restoration of a 35 mm print.

Pre-Order made. Pre-Order kept.

Will have to buy JW separate disc now. Don't care for the others.

My impression is this... Same masters yes, but less messed with... Better encodes, better grain resolve, the colors are better more refined, visually a solid improvement. DV and Atmos are great, and all the features are on the 4K's, so you don't have to sift thru 6 or 12 discs. I have both steelbook sets, and it's much more economical. I'd say it's worth the double dip.

I'm still waiting for pictures of the Brachiosaurus, the night scenes and the finale with the T-Rex in the visitor centre.

It would be a quadruple dip for me lol. Have the first releases, the last steelbook set, and now this new steelbook set...plus the 3D first movie.

Do you just shift the yellow up a few clicks? I wouldn’t mind having an adjusted preset for old discs like T2 with that heavy magenta push.

My projector has Contrast R, Contrast G, and Contrast B as well as Brightness R, Brightness G, and Brightness B... but most of my adjustments are to the "Contrast" controls (thus mainly adjusting whites and not changing blacks). For Jurassic Park I dial the Contrast B down by 7, which is a fairly typical number for my adjustments. (For extreme cases like the new Blu-ray of The Conformist I dial UP Contrast B by 21). Usually for a heavy magenta push, I manipulate green in conjunction with blue/yellow, but for JP this yellow-only adjustment ended up working best for me.

Anyhoo... that's what I do, title by title as needed. I also steepen overall gamma for Jurassic Park slightly, to give it a little more 35mm print look. I'm still on the fence about this new JP remaster, but I certainly won't pull the trigger until it's an individual release.
