Good Lord, not The Possession. Pretty sure I watched a large chunk of that on the Horror Channel once.

Jurassic World 2 will parallel the treatment of modern animals!

Quote:

"Both Jack (Horner) and me we are concerned about man's relationship with animals. Dinosaurs are a parable of the treatment of today animals: abuse, experiments in medicine, pets, have wild animals in zoos like prisons, military use has been made of them, animals and weapons .."

Colin Trevorrow made a visit to the film festival as well, and he chimed in to detail some more details about the plot of the film. "Jurassic World health with exacerabated consumerism", he described, and then went on to say that the sequel would "shift to deal with more complex issues." Trevororrow continued. The second part of the saga will be a very different film, which will explore new directions. So it is clear that it should be Bayona who directed the sequel so that it (the direction) will be able to grow and evolve with your personal (outlook)."

Very interesting, and it kind of mirrors the evolution of the original trilogy; the first film dealing more with our relationship with technology and the "could we, should we" aspect of it, while the second shifts focus to our relationship with nature and animals and how we use and abuse them.

I'm fine with all of that. Hopefully it'd get JW detractors to back off.

It actually makes me curious as to whether they can pull it off in a way that's accepted by the general audience. The Lost World is far from a universally loved film, and one of the most common criticisms leveled against it is that it doesn't get its animal rights message across very well. Hell, regardless of execution many hate these kinds of animal rights/environmentalist messages period.

Should be some very interesting reactions to this one.

I'm happy to read they might have the balls to flip this franchise upside down. I always wondered how to follow a JW sequel, since it's back at the point where JP brought us in 1994. Are they going to force it into adventures that look alike, creating some 'new' situation why we end up on the island, like the previous times? I believe that's what the audience wants, more of the same formula. Or are they going to take a whole different direction, risking the audience being not pleased with that choice? In best case, I hope they do change the direction and surprise both friend and enemies.

Yeah, I like what I've read. Ditching the island setting, going smaller in scope, shifting from the lighter action/adventure of JW to a darker tone with more emphasis on suspense/horror and dealing with controversial themes. It remains to see how they execute it and if it at all lives up to what they're building it up as, but I always admire this kind of ballsy sequel that takes a completely different approach from what you'd expect.

If they're really sinking as much cheddar into this film as is being rumoured, they're probably better off going with an approach that's more likely to be universally accepted. Then again what do I know? I'm not a Hollywood producer, writer, director or big wig.

They aren't, that was a false rumor. If anything, with what we've been hearing now about a sequel that's actually smaller in scope and more restrained than its predecessor, that would indicate a lower budget I would think.

I ain't exactly a PETA member and love a good steak, but I would be up for a good JP movie that handles issues of ethical treatment of animals. The zoo idea appeals to me, I never liked the idea of zoos outside of endangered animals that need a helping hand.

Set it in a bunker/laboratory complex beneath a city, with John Wu having taken his research to a rival company who've developed dinosaurs for various nefarious means. Dinos get loose, team of mercenaries plus Chris Pratt are sent in to deal with the threat. Lots of tension & horror, then the dinos escape into the city, giving us larger action scenes.

That's all I've got.

7,25 € for 1 kg ... That's rather cheap for this piece of luxury.
