I thought it was too long (a problem I find more and more common with films lately) and the new characters meeting the legacy characters fell kinda flat, but I still liked it (although ironically despite what I just said, I think the extended cut is better). The Lost World I may be a little harder on because I think it’s one of Spielberg’s weakest films so my expectations for it were a bit different, but I’d rank them about equal.
Jurassic Park III is still easily my least favorite and it’s not even close. It’s like a 90-something minute nothing burger with annoying characters, no scares or suspense, and no real story or ideas.

Can anyone please share what the insides look like? Is there artwork on the discs themselves or pictures on the inside of the steelbooks?

I wouldn't say I like the movie. I'm fact my head-canon skips over it and makes a trilogy of 1, 2, and 4. However I do find it fun as kind of a goofy dino b-movie, like The Land that Time Forgot but with CGI.

Only thing I really didn't like about Dominion was how they handled Dodgson. A recast was obviously going to happen, but even aside from that, I thought he was just... weird. Maybe I'm just biased because I love the books. Speaking of which, that's why I'm kind of disappointed with the Lost World movie. I still like it, but I just don't understand why they want to the trouble of asking Crichton to write a new book so that they had something to adapt into a new movie... to go and change like 98% of what he had written.

And on the flip side, that's why I ended up liking JPIII more after reading the books. There were a lot of moments in it that gave me vibes from the books.

Dodgson was so weird. He randomly changed subjects, had a crush on his protégé, and for an antagonist he literally didn't prevent anything from happening. Our protagonists got the better of him literally every single time, and 90% of the time he didn't even know he was being duped.

And as you said, a recast was necessary and it was adapted from the novels, but I didn't know either of those elements when first watching the film, so it felt like it was shoehorned for the meme of things and they just put in whomever to play the part instead of being consistent. I first got a chuckle at seeing him pop up in the opening video montage, but I didn't know he would be an actual character of note. This really bogged the movie down for me.

Not that these movies need a human villain of some sort, but if they do they need to do it a lot more effectively than that.

Is this steelbook more likely to go on sale or sell out?

Hard to tell these days. I’ve gotten it backwards a few times where I buy something and it immediately goes on sale. And other times where I wait and then become sad panda.

The Lost World unfortunately has some problems that could have been avoided. For example, Kelly is incredibly annoying and I always wished that she would be eaten.
Still, the film has a great atmosphere and some of the best scenes in the series right after the first film, but the Jurassic World series is trash, whether it's the scripts, the stories or the completely exaggerated depiction of the dinosaurs. Not to mention the fantastic animatronics by Stan Winston Studios in The Lost World.

I'm still mourning the planned ending with the Pteranodons.

My 2 cents: both Dominion and The Lost World are truly the bottom tier Jurassic Park movies….

I like all of the other entries better and by a country mile!

This alone would be a very welcome improvement.
Granted, it would need to be covered in teal to get close to how it was originally conceived and finished, but that would very likely be rejected by some consumers and it's understandable Universal wouldn't go there.

The Lost World.. I see people cheering about the brighter presentation, so I'm glad for them.
If those screenshots are indicative, I think I'll stick with the previous version when it comes to official releases. Definitely closer to the noir theatrical TLW rich in black crush and silhouettes.
It would be nice if the color grading of the new JP III Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc would take a middle way. The old Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc has too much magenta and looks lifeless and washed out. The picture you posted looks stylish, but reminds me a bit of Jurassic Would and the individual coloring of the dinosaurs is lost.

Can you say something about the original color grading of The Lost World?

Edit:
Now that I've looked at the image comparisons, I don't see any changes in the color grading of JP III. There is still far too much magenta and the cyan is missing in the night scenes. The green could also be more pronounced.

I have no idea lol. I thought about waiting a bit to see if they go on sale or are part of some deal, but I’m going to want to watch these in a couple weeks after I see the new one so I just said “screw it” and bought them on Gruv using the 20% off “signup20” code. Brought them to under $50 each and I’ll make some of that back selling off the digital copy codes too.

I just don't agree with your assessment about the Lost World. To me it's the best sequel out of the franchise bar none despite some of its issues.
