The Lost World: Jurassic Park ½ (Maybe a little generous.)
Jurassic Park III
Jurassic World ½
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - Why would I...
Jurassic World: Dominion - ...keep watching?

It looks like this new one is taking a back to basics approach, and I like Gareth Edwards, so maybe we’ll all be agreeing that Rebirth is the best one since the first
I wouldn't be surprised. He made the best Disney Star Wars film and that was just a side story.

Y’all are nuts. Dominion was good. Or perhaps I’m the one that’s nuts?

I enjoyed Dominion especially the extended cut. ½ is above average. It flirts with 3 stars, but not quite.

The thing that makes me not outright despise the locust-saurus plot....and what goes a good way towards helping me not dislike Dominion as a whole....is how much the locust plot felt exactly like something that would be in an actual Michael Crichton novel. It feels so Chrichton-y it's ridiculous. Should it have been the major plot of THAT (or any) Jurassic Park movie? No. Probably not. It also probably helps that I've only ever seen the extended version which is a slightly more robust movie.

My two biggest gripes about Dominion are how utterly toothless and bloodless and not even attempting to be scary that it is. And how absolutely wasted Sam Neil is. They couldn't find any better way of pulling him into the plot than just having Ellie ask him if he wants to come along? That's super lame. But what makes it worse is that they don't even give him one memorable scene. The most memorable thing he did was saving Malcolm. Not one memorable line. Just...nothing. Grant somehow has even less to do in the nearly 3 hour Jurassic World Dominion than he does in the 93 minute JPIII. That's crazy..

Oh, we're doing this?

Agreed on JP - 4/4, it's an all timer.
TLW - 3/4, great moments, still intense.
JP3 - 1/4. ALAN!

JW - 3.5/4, great franchise restart. Really liked it.
JWFK - 2.5/4. If they had just done the horror route the whole way, what a banger it could've been!
JWD: 2/4. Average to me, just mindless popcorn fun.

I find it ironic how people complain about Colin Trevorrow’s directing style and “blocking,” when Steven Spielberg himself personally chose him to direct. Same thing with James Mangold directing Indiana Jones 5. So who are we to judge?

We are the people watching the movies and forming our own opinions.

For me, The Lost World is just 'okay'. I think the story is solid enough and there's quite a bit to enjoy, when cherry picking moments. Overall, though, the film's pacing is in a constant tug of war with itself, leaving it to feel bloated and overly long.

I almost prefer watching Jurassic Park 3... because it lacks -so- much substance that it almost feels like the theatrical equivalent of a fun theme park ride, and to that end, it's a good time.

Jurassic World is by far my favorite sequel of the franchise, though Fallen Kingdom and Dominion left a -lot- to be desired, at least for me.
I usually turn off TLW once they arrive in San Diego. Just don't care for it at that point.

Yeah, technically, you're right. But Spielberg likely saw potential in them that some might have overlooked.

You know, there actually is a very good reason why Trevorrow went for the locusts in Dominon. In interviews, he explained that the locust subplot was designed to expand the franchise’s themes beyond just dinosaurs. His intention was to explore the broader consequences of genetic power. Not just the resurrection of extinct species, but how genetic engineering could impact ecosystems, food security, and even humanity’s survival. He wanted to show that the misuse of genetic technology could have global ramifications, beyond isolated incidents of dinosaurs escaping containment. The locusts were meant to be a metaphor for unchecked corporate greed and scientific hubris, similar to how Jurassic Park warned about the dangers of playing god. In this case, instead of dinosaurs as the sole symbol of that hubris, the locusts represented a more grounded, real-world fear: ecological collapse caused by reckless genetic modification. It's pure Crichton.

The San Diego bit is the point where I actually start to really enjoy it.

Look, TLW suffers from a severe lack of characters that you can care about. Yes even Ian Malcolm whom works better as a supporting character than a lead, Sarah Harding who is no Ellie Satler, and Kelly who forced herself upon this "adventure." Roland was the only interesting character, but everyone else was the equivalent to the blood sucking lawyer. TLW is just a passionless cynical movie that goes thru the motions for me until the curveball 3rd act.

Because the original Jurassic Park was not about unchecked corporate greed and scientific hubris

Pathetic explanation from the pathetic director of the pathetic movie.

The UK version according to the specs on this site has a bunch of other language tracks, so this will be a different encode then to the US release if that’s the case?

What's pathetic about his explanation? You admit Jurassic Park had those themes, but you’re still mocking Dominion for following them? I don't get it.
