No commentary. It's in the documentary.

Also, those opening 5 minutes on earth added a LOT to the film IMO.

No, there are many that may not have seen a film in theaters. There is nothing wrong with reviewing the film as well. It's crucial, especially when its a special edition, with new cuts and so forth.

While I do love blu ray.com, I think that they are doing biased reviews quiet often.

The fact that they gave only a 4.5/5 score for overall recommendation for Avatar Extended Edition is just plain ridiculous.

If its not Avatar Extended edition THE must have blu-ray set of 2010 than what is the one?

Ridiculous.

He wasn't in love with the film, so he couldn't give the BD a perfect score. It's just one man's opinion. Simple as that.

He is just like an elected official who has to make majoriy supported decisions.

Tell me honestly, Avatar on blu ray should be 5/5, shouldnt it?

I love Avatar as well and also feel it warrants a reference score but the reviewers should be able to give the scores they want without undue influence from the members of the site.

The Collectors Cut is SO much better in my opinion. All the additional scenes and added lines add to the film.
[Show spoiler] The NaVi killing all the soldiers and drillers, before the destruction of hometree is a VERY important scene, and makes things much less clear cut.

The point of my above post was that it should be exactly the opposite.
The reviewers should base their reviews based on site recommendations and general public predictions overall.

I haven't seen this new release, so I can't judge it. I have to wait almost another 2 weeks for my Japanese Steelbook to arrive.

[Show spoiler]No wonder Quaritch tried to make them think they were fighting for their survival, in the Na'Vi's defense, the mercenaries started it.

Well
[Show spoiler] technically it was Neyteri's sister attacking first, then the massacre of the school house that set off the fued.

with that, the Soldiers aren't exactly "Lets kill things!" meat heads. They're essentially at war with an enemy, that from what the grunts knew, started it.

But then you have to consider that the response from the Humans was disproportionate at best, and utterly inhuman at worst, based on Grace's story.

So yeah, it adds some nice shades of grey that not only add to the movie's story, but also reflects pretty well on events that take place this very day in our world

Exactly. It's a nice touch/social commentary.

Guessing they left stuff like that out of the theatrical cut to keep the political content and running time down. Oh well, I'll see it all for myself soon enough on Wednesday.

Uhhh. No. I'm sorry this is one of the worst things I've ever heard. Reviewers should never bend to what everyone thinks. And I hate to bust your bubble, but look at Rottentomatoes, it gives a good average overview of what almost 300 professional critics think....and the average is a 7.5/10. Which is close to what this reviewer gave it. So by your own logic, this reviewer is right, and followed "what everyone else said." by giving it around a 7/10. Which I enjoy the film for a romp, but agree with most of what the reviewer said, but he as does I understand that it is an unpopular opinion but is how we feel about it. Even though the general consensus of RT (which can be a decent average of how critics may have felt) said: It might be more impressive on a technical level than as a piece of storytelling, but Avatar reaffirms James Cameron's singular gift for imaginative, absorbing film making.

But in reality what matters is what you think and not everyone is always going to agree. So that's just not the way I would ever want it.
Reviewers should analyze a film themselves, not allow hype (I'm guessing you're young ) to control ones action. That or hate.

I mean by your own logic, you should change your review, because I think your the only person I've ever hear that liked Alien Resurrection more then Alien and Aliens. When most people would consider Alien and Aliens masterpieces (and this is a major general consensus) and Alien 3 and AR pure crap. Same with Terminator Salvation, the worst one of the bunch, and I would safely say the majority think this way.

But that is by your logic, and no way should that be the way some one reviews something. Even though I don't agree with it, and it is completely against popular opinion I respect your reviews of Alien 3, and 4, no matter how odd I think it is and unpopular of a view it is. No one should view something in the likes of what the majority thinks.

There are many popular movies I love and some I don't. And every reviewer should have that freedom, and not go into sheep mentality.

It sounds like you're saying that the point of a review is to simply tell the general public what they want to hear?
If that's how you feel, I must say I disagree. When someone writes a review, whether it's a "professional" reviewer or just a regular consumer like us, the point is for the reviewer to say how they felt about the product.
