Hope they do individual release with the new disc at some point like what they did with Jaws. I hate they only released it in a trilogy set, don't care for the other 5 movies.

Why isn’t the original version of the one most famous soundtracks included? Huge miss imo.

Even with a great transfer, the movie can't be fixed. It's just a ugly looking movie in general and it's one that wasn't directed by Steven Spielberg and it showed. It has some of the worst CGI, directing, writing in all of the Jurassic franchise.

My god, I'd forgotten how incredibly lazy that entire film is. Like Big-Mac-under-the-heat-lamp-from-11am-to-close lazy. I've seen better blocking in multi-camera sitcoms. I'd rather watch one of the original cast's colonoscopies over that rancid tripe ever again.

The first film is the only one out of the whole series that really holds up IMO.

Lost World is still an enjoyable watch for Pete Postlethwaite, Spielberg's directorial gifts, and having a bit of mean streak.

III is definitely a tier down, but it's still made by the dude who directed The Rocketeer, has animatronics by Stan Winston, and was written by Alexander Payne. It's a decent B-movie, knows it, and gets in and out in an hour and a half.

World was half-interesting in finally having the park be open and taking a few digs at our hyper-commercialized culture, but the satire is skin-deep, the look is plastic, and the characters are crap. Irrfan Khan and D'Onofrio are fun though.

Fallen Kingdom's script is soggy garbage, but Bayona is at least a talented director. The "dinosaur gothic" visuals carry a few moments, and they also got Buffalo Bill to stand in for Postlethwaite. JW and FK were both at least worth a single viewing.

I think my thoughts on Dominion above are pretty clear. Not particularly excited for the new one either, but Edwards is at least visually talented, and David Koepp returning to write suggests the script should be better than the last three.

I'm happy people are getting improved UHDs of the first three, but I think I'm good sticking with the 2018 singles for JP and TLW. I'm entering middle-age and tired of having to repurchase crap that I've already bought, and the older discs are frankly good enough; certainly they're better than the ancient Blu-rays. Also, and maybe it's just because I have a Sony X800M2 and thus have to do the colossally-stupid manual selection, but Dolby Vision is seriously overrated by the majority of users on this site. 99% of the time it looks identical or practically identical to standard HDR10.

My favorite quote of 2025: "Calibrate your enthusiasm."

Thank you for reading my cloud rant.

4. If OCN, use the IP and reference print as color references, if IP this is a non-issue.
5. Properly remaster the original DTS track(s) (I know for a fact it had DTS 5.1, but I'm not sure if the film had a two-track or 4/2/4 DTS Stereo track to fall back on), and present the track(s) in either a lossless codec (Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HDMA) or in uncompressed PCM.
6. Call in FiM to do the encode, since this is only one of the most beloved and successful films of all time.
7. Print it, put it in a box that doesn't suck, sell it, people buy it, everybody goes home in a Cadillac.

It's not really hard to do a Blu-ray and/or 4K release 99% of the time. The hard part seems to be convincing the children at the studios to refrain from playing in their respective sandboxes while they're doing the releases.
Good suggestion, but there is already a 4K scan from the best available source. Universal should go back to the raw scans here and redo the postproduction. Apparently there is an excellent archival print that can be used as a reference.

Also important would be a separate bonus Blu-ray Disc with previous extras in HD and new extras from the archives.

How can you tell if the remix is umasking sounds that were always there or if new ones have been added?

JP 1 & 2 are now in DV/DA on MoviesAnywhere.

The Dilophosaurus shot has had the wires removed.

Might it be actually redone?

Has anyone seen comparisons of the original 4K disc of JP1 and the new transfer?

I thought the first film looked fabulous after a full watch last night! Loved the adjusted colors and improved grain.

A very close listen and analyzing the waveforms. This one isn't too hard to notice either...I noticed many new effects added. Thunder, echoes added to dialogue. Another really weird addition was the echo added during the "please shut down the system" scene. It's a total reimagining of the mix and balance, and I am not a fan. I think it's fine to include these sorts of mixes but at the very least make the original available.

I agree that the first two films are much better and aesthetically better. But what I've seen here of images from 35 mm prints is far from ugly. JP III only became ugly in home entertainment.
