Aren't most of these Disney princesses teenagers, though?
Anyways, Caps a Holic caps make the UHD look preferable. Maybe this just the 'grain' thing preference embedded in the brain. For example, when people added fake grain to stills from UHE of Predator, or 4K of T2, and they looked 'better'. Or it could just be a case of the UHD just looking bad in motion but not in stills? I'll admit, looking at those stills on Caps a Holic, there's no difference in detail or even the lines, but watching the disc itself, the UHD looks so DNRed. Maybe lines look bad frame-to-frame (but not on each frame taken individually), and the UHD has DNR motion artifacts (smearing)? |

To my eyes, the Diamond Edition appears a lot more faithful than the new Signature. The latter has similar hallmarks to other releases, such as reduced brightness, saturation and a teal/cyan cast. DNR has at least been applied carefully.
Here's some more footage for those interested: |

Where is the UK release of this? We didn't have to wait long for The Lion King.

Best case scenario: they may just have pushed back the UK release so it can act as a tie-in for another film (most likely either Aladdin, The Lion King or Frozen 2 but I'd say Aladdin is most likely). If it isn't announced by October, then the UK definitely isn't getting it (we didn't get either of the Wreck-It Ralph films so it's possible). |

It honestly feels like the team at Disney UK are just playing darts with what UHD releases we get and which ones we don't. It honestly feels random which ones we get and which ones we don't; we get The Lion King and Mary Poppins Returns but not The Nutcracker, A Wrinkle in Time, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 or any of the Wreck-It Ralph films? We get Incredibles 2, but only as a Samsung Movie Lounge Exclusive and not The Incredibles, Coco or Cars 3? It just feels completely random. I was hopeful that Disney seemingly dropping 3D in the UK might mean we'll get more 4K titles, but it looks like we're still being shafted. It just seems to be pot luck. Will we get Dumbo? Aladdin? The Lion King remake? Toy Story 4? Frozen 2? Who knows. |

The bigger question (for me) is wether we'll get Frozen 1 and Toy Story 1-3 on 4k aswell to go with their new films. And if Dumbo, Alladin and The Lion King get a 4k release at all (even in the US). Beauty and the Beast (live action), and Jungle Book (live action) didn't get a 4k release either, so I'm not even sure if Dumbo, Alladin or The Lion King get a 4k release. I hope so though. |

As for catalogue titles, Disney seems to be releasing older films in a series to tie-in with a new sequel (Incredibles and Wreck-It Ralph were both released on 4K to tie-in with their sequels) so I'd be surprised if we didn't get Frozen and Toy Story 3 at the very least to tie-in with their sequels. The first three Toy Story films could be a bit of a stretch, but I think we'll get at least Toy Story 3. And tbh, I'd say we could possibly get The Jungle Book as a tie-in for The Lion King (due to sharing a director and using the same style) but that might be a bit of a stretch. Maleficent 2 is now confirmed for release in October so I'd also say Maleficent 1 is very likely. I'd say Frozen is practically guaranteed though, it's one of Disney's most successful films of recent years in box office, merchandise and home video. If I had to make predictions I'd say; All but confirmed: Frozen Very likely: Toy Story 3, Maleficent, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Less likely but still possible: Toy Story, Toy Story 2, The Jungle Book, Rogue One |

If they don't release the new Lion King in 4k I'll be annoyed. Hoping we also get everything released in the US eventually too. I probably will end up subscribing to Disney+ regardless, but I'm not giving up on physical media, it would be an odd choice for the biggest company to. |

But that's just it though, Disney are SO huge that they don't need the hassle of physical media any more, they've been throttling back their releases via this ****ing 'vault' system for years. I think they'll be the first to drop 4K disc completely when the time comes, or maybe stop distributing it outside North America.
