I had to return my first copy because the first disc had a number of small scratches all in one spot that surprisingly felt pretty deep. I'm not sure if it was caused by the packaging or not but, it doesn't build my confidence in the packaging. The second set I got was fine but, I've already moved my disc into a spare normal 3 disc BD case I had and, used the artwork from the standalone BD release for now.

I've had no problem with the Alien set but, the way the Avatar set stores the disc just seems really flimsy and cheap. It’s really ashamed because the rest of the packaging is great.

hey guys...is there a breakdown of the added scenes that are in the extended version? i have heard about the scene where they are out hunting. what are the others? not really interested in the unfinished material. just wondering. thanks

NONE at all ... not even the DVD version. How crazy is that?

I figure it's probably just a delayed shipment.

But now that the Order Online/Pick-Up In Store option is gone as of today (could have done this if my store had had any yesterday) ... that means $29.99 + tax unless the store is willing to match the BB web pricing.

My BB price matched online no questions asked. You won't have a problem

PowerDVD8 Playback Issues with Avatar: Collector's Edition

I've also posted this message in the computer/laptop/drive sub-forum, but figured I'd try my luck here as well.

Was wondering if I could get some feedback from other users who may be encoutering this problem:

I own a Samsung R540-11 laptop with Manufacturer installed PowerDVD8 playback software.

I have been playing all BDs without issue (approx. 35 titles).

I just purchased the new Avatar 3-Disc Collector's Edition BD but cannot seem to get the disc to play. I am ably to forcibly (by manually clicking play) get to the standard 'this disc may take 2-3 minutes to load.... please make sure you have the latest firmware' screen, but after that the screen becomes blank and nothing happens... The disc spins in the drive for about 2 minutes, but then nothing, even after waiting 15 minutes.

I downloaded and installed the latest update for PowerDVD8 from their website to no avail.

I've tried this with Disc 1 & Disc 2, and the same thing happens.

Of course, since this is the first BD that has caused issues, I am incertain whether I have a faulty BD in which case I will exchange it for a new one or if something with the software is the cause.

Avatars slip is not a paper product.. it has a glossy finish to it, it will work fine.. just dont hose it down... paper slips would be observe and report, 17 again, etc.. glossy finish slips Avatar, Gladiator, Godfather, etc

I use Proactive to get stuff off. I just take the most liquidy part, put it on a cotton pad, and wipe. Takes care of the sticky way better than any other product I've ever tried, and the Proactive comes right off after. Couldn't be better!
