I'm very happy with the upgrades to JP1 and III, but I'll replacing my TLW disc with the old 4K. Hate to have to frankenstein the thing, but that be how the Universal do.

TLW reissued 4K does look problematic... I just don't care enough about the movie to restock the older 4K.

I haven’t spot checked the sequels myself— does the consensus seem to be part III is a small but clear upgrade and TLW mostly a step back? I’m getting a bit of a mixed reaction to that one.

I dunno about consensus but from having watched all three the first and third have small but definitely appreciable upgrades. Second one, hoo boy. It ain't no disaster as it's mostly the same, but several moments have been slathered in DNR which look absolutely fine on the previous 4K. It's so bizarre.

Seems like the five-movie collection that I have (https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Juras...lu-ray/211373/) and the 25th anniversary digibook both have options for spatial surround and HD 7.1 surround for all movies, and this is the same in the new trilogy sets minus some of the DTS stuff got switched to Dolby. So although the new trilogy sets don't have original theatrical audio options, the other recent releases didn't either right?

That shot is an optical. It needed to be massaged. All shots with Jeff Goldblum are opticals. He filmed his scenes in his mansion against a green sheet and they superimposed him afterwards. Like a T-Rex.

Nice! If this gets a stand-alone release, I'll probably pick it up.

Big fan of TLW, so I'm quite disappointed what they did there by adding DNR.

Man, I love the first film so much but I can't really see myself buying the entire first trilogy - I'm not really interesed in the sequels - just to get a slightly better picture quality...
...they just couldn't do a new transfer from scratch, could they?

Rent it from iTunes for $4. They have the new version. If you like the DV layer and Atmos mix, then you can decide if you want to go for the disc.
