HOLY mother I just sampled a few scenes from Avatar on 3D Blu-ray... Will never, ever watch the 2D version anymore. It looks like a (very realistic) cartoon when compared to the photoreality of the 3D Blu version. It works but 3D have the edge. Anyone want to buy my old LG HD plasma screen ? I'm getting a Panasonic 3DTV (when my bank account will permit it).

Scotland is a long way to carry a LG TV from France will probably sell it to someone in the building. Really, I just got a bunch of 3D Blu-rays... I'm all set !

Like most of you the Extended Cut is now the only version of the film for me. Anything else would feel like a very incomplete movie. In fact after watching the deleted scenes even the Extended Cut feels that way. This is a movie that should be nearly 4 hours long, not 3.

I sure wish Hunt Festival and The Dreamhunt had been completed/left in. Great scenes.

Well I finally sat down and watched this again - the extended cut.

The beginning and ending of the movie are better than I remembered (the newly inserted "Earth" scenes are some of the best in the whole movie!) but the 90 minutes in the middle still drag on, and on, and on. Just deathly dull storytelling IMHO.

It does look and sound fabulous though! I actually prefered it in 2D over 3D.

But what's that bloody "US-English-Forced" message that comes up in bright yellow as the closing credits end? Clearly it's supposed to indicate the type of captions used but why? I mean, for who? I saw the same message on Date Night so presumably it's a Fox thing... Does it happen on everybody's players?

It's OVER the movie (yes the credits ARE part of the movie) and therefore totally inappropriate. Not happy about that, as a trend.

I noticed that too, had no clue why it was there.

Forced subtitles wouldn't bother me at all but I have bad hearing.

The mention of the sub language at the end of a movie (usually during the last few seconds before the credits end) is to help tech people not to confuse the different languages ie if it's not there, how can one tell the difference betweem romanian and gdansk by looking at the text files ? The last line helps to make sure you attributed the correct subs to the correct menu titles. (at least that was it during the DVD days)

That's ridiculous! So the movie has meta-data permanently stamped over it just so that a few technical guys don't get confused?

Not happy.

Probably need to get your laptop a firmware update if this is the first movie giving it problems.

What is the software used? PowerDVD? Maybe you can try and install the latest version or some other different software.

Same here. Just sampled the 3D at Best Buy and I'm completely sold (and so is my girlfriend). Haven't opened my new copy of Avatar so I'm taking it back and going to wait for the 3D version!
