I am looking forward to getting the Avatar Collector's Edition for Christmas. I also look forward to purchasing myself a 3DTV for myself next Christmas (only if Avatar is available or included).

i just want to say a few Avatar things here. I think the 3 disc version is awesome! If you love the movie get it,.
I was just thinking yesterday, that if you took out the love interst between Jake and Nateri you have Ferngully The Last Rainforest for adults. But with that said I still love the film and it is in my top five favorite films of all time, warts and all. I also agree with the reviewer of the 3D edition when he said that if they made that a stand alone disc it would greatly promote 3D televisions like nothing before. Which would be great for me because then the prices would go down and I could actually affort a 3D television. |

Also, we're talking about modern audiences(and Cameron's limited writing abilities), certainly he would use readily identifiable terms and phrases instead of complicated military jargon. |

Well, he did stand in front of something else. ![]() And do not forget the shape and layout of the main base which is reflective on their shoulder patches and medals too. Did anybody else notice how Cameron uses this subtle and sly symbolism here? . Last edited by Duffy12; 12-03-2010 at 03:49 PM. |

The shape of the Human base is also a Pentagon

Yea, when the trailer first came out over a year ago I immediately noticed something odd about it, and what drew me to it was the strange placement of that A/C unit there in the top left. It was ruining that fantastic view of the outdoors through the window, so then I thought: What the hell did Cameron do that for? And then it dawned on me so I counted the number of window slats. Plain as day. ![]() Right, that was what I was referring to there as the patches and medals also match the Human base's shape which also happens to match... ...The Pentagon! |

That's interesting, but I'd have to hear Cameron speak of it to accept it as fact, otherwise it's like this:
![]() Subliminal naked lady in Alien? That's what a lot thought... But nope, just Yaphet Kotto's arm. It's an interesting picture you provided though. I'm gonna look around about this. |

That's an interesting Alien pic there. ![]() Regarding his use of symbolism in Avatar, I do not think that Cameron will ever admit to it's true meanings, but you never know. But to me it is just too obvious, such as Trudy's shoulder patches and jewelery, which again match the shape of the main human base. ![]() However, if anybody can dig up anything concrete on this, it would be you for sure. ![]() |

Thanks Valaquen. ![]() It sure took me awhile to find a good link to get there as Google sure lead to a lot of dead ends. BTW, While I was watching 'Apocalypse Now' a few weeks ago I noticed that Quaritch's great great great granddad(also a Col.) from his mum's side served in Nam. ![]() ![]() Pretty neat homage that Cameron is paying there. |
