Unlike the first released single disc ed., which had firmware issues, my 3 disc ed. is practically perfect. But. Wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this: At the start of all 3 discs, the 20th Century Fox logo and intro begins, and then freezes, hicups, begins again, freezes, then resumes fine and the rest of the disc, inclding extras, all 3 verisions of film all play fine. Not sure if this was in fact a firmware issue I need to let Sharp know about or is a gliche inherit just with the source BD discs being manufactured? Anyone?

i just want to say a few Avatar things here. I think the 3 disc version is awesome! If you love the movie get it,.
I was just thinking yesterday, that if you took out the love interst between Jake and Nateri you have Ferngully The Last Rainforest for adults. But with that said I still love the film and it is in my top five favorite films of all time, warts and all.
I also agree with the reviewer of the 3D edition when he said that if they made that a stand alone disc it would greatly promote 3D televisions like nothing before. Which would be great for me because then the prices would go down and I could actually affort a 3D television.

Agreed. It's not like he had the Col. standing in front of a "Mission Accomplished" banner after they destroyed Home Tree.

Also, we're talking about modern audiences(and Cameron's limited writing abilities), certainly he would use readily identifiable terms and phrases instead of complicated military jargon.

Wow, I had never noticed that until now. The individual shades and light in between even make the 13 stripes, which I highly doubt was a coincidence.

Yea, when the trailer first came out over a year ago I immediately noticed something odd about it, and what drew me to it was the strange placement of that A/C unit there in the top left. It was ruining that fantastic view of the outdoors through the window, so then I thought: What the hell did Cameron do that for? And then it dawned on me so I counted the number of window slats.

Regarding his use of symbolism in Avatar, I do not think that Cameron will ever admit to it's true meanings, but you never know. But to me it is just too obvious, such as Trudy's shoulder patches and jewelery, which again match the shape of the main human base.






However, if anybody can dig up anything concrete on this, it would be you for sure.

Technically, people could say those are coincidences, but that's kind of like the line in 'The Last Boy Scout' where Bruce Willis goes, "Yeah [adultery] 'just happened'! You just woke up one day, slipped on a banana peal and, whoops!, your dick slipped in my wife." These things are the result of consciousness, not randomness.

Here's the movie's production designer to Variety talking about the "military industrial complex":
RICK CARTER: "That bioluminescence is almost like a nervous system of the planet, and that's what's at stake in the movie, as you start to get past the initial foray into the Na'vi culture and seeing the drama start to emerge between the military-industrial complex that wants to exploit the world."

For the record, James Cameron is a Canadian citizen, not an American citizen. I would personally estimate his total life earnings at something like $600 million. That means that, through taxes, he's given the U.S. government about $300 million. Meaning that he's a foreigner in this country (a) creating wealth for all through his technological innovations and (b) giving huge sums of capital wealth to the government and not having any Constitutional rights or voting rights assured to him in return.

So if any Americans are going to criticize this man, they damn well better first pony up $300 million to the government (military) like he has and then be willing to renounce their citizenship.

The American military worshipers are just prostrating themselves to the military. James Cameron is (alas) actually paying for it.

BTW, While I was watching 'Apocalypse Now' a few weeks ago I noticed that Quaritch's great great great granddad(also a Col.) from his mum's side served in Nam.

That's funny, because movies like Full Metal Jacket already portrayed the American Army as being sociopathic ["War. It's hell, ain't it?"], yet I've never met anyone decry Stanley Kubrick for trashing the Army.
