Yup. When I saw Cogman's name come up as the writer, I knew it was going to be a good'un.

Why would Tywin try and undermine Ser Jorah as opposed to Ser Bariston? From the small council's perspective wouldnt they figure Selmy was the greater help to Dany? And as he is creating the evidence why would it be any harder to frame Ser Bariston as Dany was originally suspicious of him because he served King Robert?

He's just offering a suggestion to get the tv series back in line with the books. In the books, Barristan Selmy was posing as Arstan Whitebeard. He is discovered shortly before the sacking of Meereen, at which time he outs Ser Jorah as a spy. Together they enter the city through the sewers and deliver Dany the city. Afterwards, she pardons him for lying to her about his identity, but cannot do the same for Ser Jorah, exiling him instead.

Tywin outing Ser Jorah would provide Dany with an impetus to exile him in the television series.

Who knows, maybe he will try to pin it on both (Dany probably isn't predisposed to believe anything Tywin says - but it might compel Jorah to confess). I'm just guessing here. Jorah has to go sooner or later. Considering they were just discussing Jorah's time as spy, I assume it will factor in pretty soon, and it will have something to do with Tywin's letter writing that he took up last night.

I understand why they couldn't go that route in the books, but man I wanted to see him beat the hell out of the Titan's bastard with a stick

You're right that it's chronologically accurate, but it's the furthest ahead story line by a mile. They would either have to significantly slow down her story over the next two seasons (definitely possible given how much happens to her) or else start showing Book 6 material.

I believe Bran's story is further along than Dany's.

Dan and David have already said the show was going to run for seven seasons, so that's pretty much a foregone conclusion. Even if they change their minds, and the show runs for eight seasons, I still expect her story to be in book six material by the end of next season.

Her arc next year could culminate two ways and not go beyond book 5 material.

1. Her wedding to Hizdahr zo Loraq
2. Daznak's Pit (Assassination attempt, flying on Drogon)

Tywin is going to hang him out to dry in his letter that he drafts at the Small Council meeting (where his toady Mace Tyrell fetched a pen for him).

Yep. Episode 9. Like the Battle of Blackwater in Season 2, Episode 9, the entire show will be at the Wall.

I liked the Craster's Keep diversion. It was mostly believable (except for the part where Karl Tanner turns his back on Jon Snow to pay attention to one Craster's wives only to get shishkabobbed through the skull with Longclaw).

OTOH, the Yara/Asha attack on the Dreadfort was DREADFUL. She gets them all pumped up for freeing Theon with an epic speech before they go all ninja on the castle, but when faced with an unarmed Ramsay and his two dogs, they're all, "Uh, we're good. We have to go now!" Pathetic.

Yep. We get the Winterfell snow castle that Sansa makes followed by the Littlefinger kiss, followed by Crazy Lysa flipping out over it, followed by, "Only Cat."

Did anyone sense that the conversation between Varys and Oberyn Martell foreshadowed Varys' and Dorne's support for Aegon to become King?

Was that it? I thought they gave up because of the state of Theon, but yeah doesn't make sense why they didn't kill Ramsay

Was that what that was? I was wondering what that was, considering I'm not there yet in ADWD At least I'm assuming it's ADWD material.

I'm sure it could be construed that Yara/Asha gave up because Theon was so far gone. However, if it was me, I would've taken my vengeance out on the person who was responsible for turning him in the first place. That, and the fact that Ramsay was unarmored, it would have made it pretty easy pickings to kill that sicko at that moment.

But I also realize that they can't kill Yara/Asha and Ramsay at that moment, because it was just filler, and neither character can be killed off if they want to keep their story arcs similar to the books.

Yes, IMO.

Also, I like how Davos bringing up Tywin's age and how long the Iron Bank thinks that the Lannisters will repay the crown's debt to them. It foreshadows Tyrion finding Tywin on the crapper in Episode 10, IMO.

Well, I agree completely that that is what Tywin was setting up...I just dont get why. In the books with Selmy outing Mormont it's just him telling his queen something she should know. By making Tywin the source of the information he could g after either one. It would be hard to go after both without it seeming obvious. Id guess what happens is a letter meant fot Mormont accidentally falls into Dany's hands. But again, why Ser Jorah? He is a disgrace knight from Bear Island. Selmy is a legendary fighter and the former commander of the King's Guard. They would have been much better sticking with the books. Just because Selmy wasnt on the small council in the show doesnt mean he hadnt heard of Ser Jorah's attempts to get a pardon.
