The police, customs could have made a fortune continually raiding them, but I guess they had a lot of influential friends in the UK film industry based upon people I saw browsing their selections. They used to stick self printed BBFC stickers on titles, although a lot was under the counter and you needed to be 'in the clique' with the guys running the store. Had quite a few titles which were illegal in the UK openly on sale such as the Jess France Goya Collection DVDs. The uncut ones with underage sexual nudity and violence. Some were refused classification by BBFC or very heavily cut. The other place I remember was a small store need Goodge Street London and the University College London. Regarding getting their own BBFC rating. Would have never happened as doesn't it cost something like £1k to get a film rated so no way could you cover that on a few sales. Anyway the stuff that was attractive to get was the stuff that as noted above was BBFC cut or refused. Some though would shop at Cinema Store to get US releases in the era that these could sometimes be a year before the UK, but people with cash as you were paying £30+ for a R1 DVD. Even the likes of importers such as Movietyme would only charge £20. Also FACT would want to raid you as selling a US import it may be from a different company to whoever had UK rights. Not every film is say Warner in both UK and US. If different companies that's an infringement of the UK owner's rights. |

If anyone is interested I received a blu from rarewaves US today which I ordered before 1/1/21 with no duty problems. The cost was also above £15. I have now received both blus from wow and rarewaves with no concerns.

That’s good to know as I’m waiting for The Curse Of Frankenstein (love your avatar) from Rarewaves ordered in December and more than £15.

i thought rarewaves re-shipped all their stuff via a warehouse located in the uk like wow do? anything i ordered always came in a white card envelope with a royal mail sticker for the postage paid. there was nothing else at all printed on the packet that indicated it was posted in usa.

I ordered the Essential Fellini set from Wow. It's been marked as delivered and signed for since yesterday, but I still haven't gotten it. I contacted Wow about this, and they said they see the same thing and that I'll have to just contact the delivery service. Any thoughts?

Put the WoWHD tracking id from your order history in here. https://parcelsapp.com/en This may give a clue to where left. In most cases for me with Hermes it just says left on doorstep. As far as I’m aware because of Covid Hermes don’t make you sign. They don’t ask me to. They just leave on your doorstep and most of the time don’t ring the bell or knock. Do a lot of people pass outside your house. If left on your doorstep overnight it could have been stolen or delivered to wrong house. As Martin Lewis of Money Saving Expert and ITV has said with parcels marked as delivered but you haven’t got them in most cases you are stuffed. You are probably relying on a neighbour having it and being honest to bring it round to you. |

I absolutely loved Play.com, that was the first site I used. I’m sure (if memory serves me right) I got Mission Impossible 2 and LW4 on R1 dvd.
I had a Wharfedale dvd 750 Multi Region player. Cant remember where I bought that? |

I first started buying Criterions mainly from Amazon.com and then their DVDs cost about £22 shipped (luckily in those days $30 was below the customs limit) - but when PlayUSA started doing Criterion blus for £17.99 shipped it was heaven!
