If I could go back in time and do it again? I would do it all over again! My launch 60Gb is the gaming console that offers the most!

No regrets at all on the PS3. Sometimes I think it would have been smart to wait an extra year on the HD-TV. I could have saved around $1600 and had a more feature-rich model had I held off. But it's nice that when I do get a replacement in a few years it'll cost a fraction of what I initially paid.

No offense. But if it was me, I would have taken the $2000 and waited to get the PS3 at later date. I got my PS3 way after the release date and was still able to get an 80gb PS3 w/ BC.

$2000 would buy some really nice speakers, or receiver, or a ton of blus!

Thumbs up

I paid $500 for my 80gb Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle, I don't regret it at all. I'm pretty sure its the only fully backwards compatible PS3 out there. Plus, Metal Gear Solid 4 is a great game!

I am happy with my purchase. I bought mine from game crazy which made me buy their insurance with the PS3. It cost me almost $800 total, cause I wanted it right now and nobody else had it in stock.

I was kinda regretful at first cause there weren't many games out, but once I watched a blu-ray all the regret went away, and now there is all kinds of awesome games.

No regrets! Launch 60gb FTW!

It is good for you, but I think the TO meant the original lanuch model (60Gb) in late 2006.

Sorry to break it to you, but your 80Gb model is not even fully backwards compatible. Only the lanuch 20Gb or 60Gb support full BC.

No regrets at all. My 60GB SKU still runs like a champ, and God of War II (hi-res mode) looks gorgeous on it

I should add that I didn't purchase mine right at launch but a few months after when rumors of BC-removal were brewing--figured I should act while I could.

Got my original 60gb shortly after launch and just before they took the BC chips out of them. Sony threw in 5 free movies and Amazon threw in another movie plus the PS3 remote.

Best piece of electronic equipment I have ever bought.

i've paid an extra $300 to have the PS3 and Blu-ray for the past 2+ years, that's about $10/month...nope, a bargain for me!

No regrets here. The extra $200 for my PS3 at time of purchase >2 years ago has been well worth it.

No regret here. Bought the 60gb at launch, best $600 I ever spent. Besides, why regret not waiting for $300 price point when I get about 3 years use out of it already! I wouldn't have wanted to wait 3 years for it. Best piece of electronic equipment ever....EVER.

Considering that I've had the PS3 for two and a half years now, got several Blus for free with purchase, and was able to take advantage of the great BOGOs that came regularly during the Blu-ray/HD war, and the one I have is backward compatible, I have no complaints.

I didn't buy the launch, but I did buy the 80gb for $500 in November. Came with Motorstorm and got 10 free Blus. I'd pay for it all over again too. Definitely worth it. Sorry I sold my launch PS3 too cause it took me a whole year to cave and take advantage of the systems awesome capabilities.

I would like to thank all of the early adopters for pushing Blu-ray forward!

Just think, If there was no PS3 HD DVD might have lasted another week

nope. those that purchased at 600 felt it was worth the money obviously. besides, i consider my 60 gig the best model with all the features including sacd support and B/C

Paid $600 on Jan 1st 2007. That means I've had it now for 32 months.
For a $300 price difference that breaks down to about $0.30 per day. Worth every penny every day!

I refused to camp out in front of a retail store (like a bum), so I decided to spend a little extra on a 20GB for $650 on ebay. I ended up selling it six months later and got a perfect 60GB. But, I had to sell my 60GB to pay some bills . Now, all I can settle for is a Sylvania

No Regret.

I bought a few days after launch with a raincheck (because the store was supposed to get in 10 units instead of 4.)

I sold almost everything else in my gear rack ... Video Processor, Upconverting DVD player, SACD player,... so the cost was ofset to about $200.

At the time the only other Blu Ray player that existed was the craptastic Sammy BD1000 which sold for about $1200. I was able to enjoy 1080p in Nov 06 and I didn't have to even touch HD DVD.

I use my 60GB (Now 500GB) for everything... It's the only thing in my gear rack aside from my AVR. I love the way it plays SACD's! It has many card readers so if people visit and take some pictures, I can put on a slide show of thier pics. (I have done this before... with music from the hard drive at the same time of course.)

The slim has some nice new features as well like Bravia Theater Sync and Bitstreaming of HD Audio but since I still use my PS3 for SACD I prefer my 60GB over all other PS3's.

-Brian

Ps. Speaking of regret, A friend of mine bought a Sammy BD1000 in 06 open box for like $900. It's not profile 1.1 or profile 2.0, it takes several minutes to load a disc and half the stuff he rents and buys on Blu won't play even with the current FW updates installed. He just replaced it but there's something you could regret ... not a PS3.
