Independent checking of each BD is usually the best through reviews here or elsewhere, but many 50 Hz Blu-rays are European television shows or documentaries. Most movies on Blu-ray are at 1080p/24, which can be played on any Blu-ray player.

Is The Bourne Trilogy (from the Amazon.UK) Region free because everyone states it is but it's listed as Region 2 only. Please clarify.

Yes, it's region free. Been confirmed by many people who have scored the set for a bargain price compared to the US one. Ignore Amazon regions, as they don't even list Blu-ray regions.

Checking the listing here on this site confirms it.

+1.

In case you haven't seen it before: ***NEVER*** rely on region codes in an Amazon listing (regardless of country), especially on BDs since they use DVD region codes (1, 2, etc.) instead of BD region codes (A, B, C). Review sites that either test for region codes or let users report them, like this site's movie section or DVDBeaver's BD reviews, are far more reliable. Even Amazon user reviews that mention region codes (there's several for the Bourne trilogy) are more reliable on that point than Amazon itself.

I got these 5 box sets recently from Amazon UK,
5BoxSet.jpg
for a great price.-they all are Region-Free

Also picked up 3 single-disc BD titles in the same order.

Ordered in late Jan, total price with VAT would've been nearly 225 pounds. Without VAT I paid 194.xx pounds.

S&H was 10 pounds sterling for all, exchange rate at the time was ~$1.61:1

Cost of these for Region A's according to DVDPriceSearch.com would've been $509 at the time.

Total $$$ costs were about $339 including whatever exchange rate the credit card co. used AND their foreign transaction fees.

To me that means the REAL "exchange rate" would've been about $1.74xx after all fees, etc. were charged to my credit card.

The 3 individual titles + the 4 smaller box sets got here in less than 10 days, the BSG box set shipped separately but on the same day supposedly, took 2 weeks and a day to get here...

Thumbs up

I just opened and watched the Bourne Identity, and DID NOT have any problems with the playback. I do believe that the subtitles default to your machine's font, but there's no way I can tell, they look good for me.

EDIT: And no problem watching a few of the extras either; the few I watched were 4:3 and SD.

It is region-free, but that is a lot more expensive for just the privilege of better artwork. Buy the U.S. edition and print your own artwork.

Does the Godfather boxset have the same clunky fat cases as the Bourne Trilogy?

Yes, those cases are the standard in the UK and here in Australia. They are the same width as a standard DVD case.

It doesn't bother me anymore.

Btw, two days ago I received an email from AMZ UK saying that my order would be delayed, but fortunately they already charged me the amount which is $21.31 for the Matrix trilogy and it will ship either today or tomorrow. I'm still waiting for the Spider-man trilogy to go down in price like it did last year.

+1. Funny how other boxed trilogies of similar vintage have dropped below £18 (a key price point for UK e-tailers due to VAT-avoidance schemes), but Spidey was only there for a short time in June.
