So to those who got it, hows the PQ?

Mine shipped from WalMart today but something weird i noticed is it says Full Frame. I figure its gotta be a mistake. I cant see them releasing a Full Frame bluray of this.

Default My Review

Just purchased this film on blu today and wanted to see it as its been several years since my last viewing. Terry O'Quinn was just as good as I remember. He was perfectly casted for this role and it was very believable. I had a crush back when this film was released on Jill Schoelen. She was a cutiepie. As for the film, it held up really well and it is a very good suspenseful thriller. Again Terry carries the film and his split personality is creepy. I like the remake to this film but the big difference between the two films are Dylan Walsh & Terry O'Quinn. Dylan I thought did a decent job but it doesnt compare to Terry's performance.

Film Rating - 3 1/2 stars (out of 5)

PQ - 3 1/2 stars (out of 5)

AQ - 2 stars (out of 5)

Got Em!!

Don't worry it is widescreen. For some odd reason they list just about everything as full screen etc.

I haven't watched mine yet but I hear according to home theatre forum i think it is stated the blu probably looks better than what some saw in theatres.

Watched it last night and if you're a fan this should be a definite buy. While your not gonna get Avatar quality PQ here, it is a great upgrade to the DVD. Detail is just decent but the colors really stand out and the picture is fairly clean without any DNR that I could see. Audio is nothing special, a PCM 2.0 track, but the commentary track and featurette and pretty interesting and informative. And yes this a widescreen disc.

I may have to go out and spend even more money this week.

Love the amount of late 70's/80's horror/thrillers coming out lately. Just watched Child's Play this weekend, now I'll have to pick this up. Maybe I' can add it to my Night of the Creeps Amazon order from this morning.

Well, not much hair... (see the transformation scene late in the film)

Audio sounded great. The thing that really stands out is the PQ. I'd give it some really high marks. It's easily the best the film has looked since theaters -- and in some aspects probably better than that. Truly amazing because the previous incarnations of this film looked so terrible up until the DVD shout put out (and the German release from Marketing Film).

The print looks about as good as it likely can. To see just how bad this looked for some time check out the feature "Video Trailer" -- that's about what my VHS copy looked like... and it was a rental copy on top of that...

The extras are nice. All the film's trailers are presented and the commentary is pretty sweet. The behind the scenes doc is pretty cool. Nice to see some of the cast. Schoelen still looks breathtaking. UGH! Love her.

This is such a fantastic release from SHOUT! Except it was a bummer finding just one store in Manhattan that had it. Not a great sign -- but I figure those who want it will get it online.

Crossing my fingers that the Slumber Party Massacre films get some solid HD treatment when the DVD re-releases come out this fall...

**** YOU SHOUT FACTORY! They never bother to put any english subtitles or closed captioning on almost all the DVD releases! I won't be able to buy it since I would not be able to understand what they are saying since I am deaf

I preordered this from DeepDiscount, and 11 days after release they still haven't shipped it! Anyone received their copy from DD?

Nope. DD is out of stock and I too ordered a copy from them. Who knows when it will arrive at this point. I got a copy from Barnes & Noble to hold me over. If/when my copy arrives from DD I might just return it but maybe I'll give it to a friend.

Aside from Sela Ward and Dylan Walsh it was a total mess and a missed opportunity -- though both were excellently cast and with a better script would have been much better. Changing the protagonist to a male (ex-military school brat didn't help either) completely changed the dynamic of the film and IMHO hurt it greatly. It felt more like a rip-off of Disturbia than a remake of the original film. The script is unrealistic as can be -- and nobody but Ward/Walsh can act to save his/her life... no pun intended. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was acceptable for a mindless thriller and it could have been a lot worse but it's unfortunate that they didn't aim higher (seriously, the director of PROM NIGHT (2008) ????!!!

On the plus side they resisted the urge to completely explain The Stepfather and I still can't believe they managed to make this movie without 10-15 minutes of "flashbacks" showing us incredibly dumbed down psych 101 explaining why he was crazy (Rob Zombie, take note) seeing as that's all the rage in the horror industry these days. Points for going more mysterious with the character but having a completely unlikeable protagonist who goes through little to no character development hurt the film tremendously.

I keep checking and checking and checking, but this price just will not drop. I'm hoping it will sometime in October, however I doubt it.

I finally broke down and got my copy from Amazon a couple of days ago. I've been collecting blu-ray for about a year now and I don't think it's ever dropped below $18.99 over at Amazon.
