Interesting, ill have to check this out. I didnt realize the new one that just came to BD was a remake. The main character of the new one is a pretty bad actor IMO, and the new one was just ok and corny.. but that girl in the movie is smoking hot!!

Most movies released these days are remakes. Such as The Crazies coming out this friday in theaters.

Yeah Hollywood has completely ran dry on original ides so they just rehash old one. On another note i am excited for the remake of The Crazies

I want to watch this one first. Then watch the remake. But honestly the original seems like it would be superior and I like that it has sequels that continue the story.

I saw the remake in theaters, and i have to say its a rental at best. It was pretty boring till the last 15 mins and some of the acting sucked.

Yea man that was a cool lil trilogy. I enjoyed them all. But we have to start somewhere so Im happy about the OG release for part 1! Day 1 buy for me. Got Em!!

The main reason for me to watch the remake is the main guy is from Nip/Tuck and seeing him play a killer would be interesting. But I won't have huge expectations.

I'm definitely getting this. The original Stepfather is a fantastic thriller. One of the best, IMO. The first sequel was decent as well, though not nearly as good as the first. Now the third movie... well, it seriously suffered from Terry O'Quinn's departure. I don't think it was ever even released on DVD. But I'm hoping they at least release part 2 on blu. Maybe throw part 3 in as a supplement or something, like The Dirty Dozen did.

Naturally, this is announced two months after I bought Shout!'s DVD.

*sigh* Oh well, it's not the first title I've rebought on Blu after getting the DVD...

I'm in the same boat. Picked up the original Stepfather and Stepfather 2 when they came out of DVD. Should have waited but I just could not wait!!! To all out there the first two are killer!!! The remake was a sad, sad, disappointment.

Same here.

I figured there wasn't much of a chance of this hitting blu in general... and when the remake was announced and released without a peep, I figured I was safe. I bought this about 3 weeks ago.

Still, not a big deal...and I got it cheap. It's just that needing to double-dip is more of a rarity these days as I'm pretty careful with my DVD-based purchases, in case there's a blu on the horizon.

I don't expect much as far as quality - I rented the dvd the other night and it looked and sounded pretty bad. John Locke is pretty awesome, the rest of the movie is cheesy, though.

I have to disagree. I didn't think it was cheesy at all. One of the more effective thrillers out there. And I definitely wouldn't write the quality off like that. They might surprise us. There's no way of knowing one way or the other at this point.
