I think it is hilarious that the HD DVD PRG keeps deliberately going up against Disney. Do they suppose such obvious tactics are going to win them any points with Disney?
I think they're simply going big vs big that just happens to be Disney

And with Blade Runner and Harry Potter coming, there's no way Warner is going to want to be promoting Matrix on top of that

Unfortunately, I expect this ends the chance of getting The Matrix on BD this year. Warner won't counter HD DVD like that.

Gary
I think that hd dvd is desperate to keep their supporters buying. hd dvd fans see all these good titles coming out on blu ray and all they see is the likes of evan almighty and knocked up. with more and more people defecting from fascist hddvd they had to give the poor b@$t@rd$ something.

How many are Warner? 6 or 7? Blu-ray should focus switching Warner to Blu-ray only. HD-DVD would really be hurting then.
I think Paramount would be the best choice to try and convert. They seem to recognize the difference in the formats and try to optimize for both. I think Warner has shown too much preference for HD DVD to ever think of abandoning them before the war is completely over. Paramount wouldn't have the same effect that Warner would have but it would be another big domino to fall.

Is this thread a joke? Catalog TV Series vs Day/Date billion dollar franchise? Who in their right mind thinks BSG will sell even 1/10th of POTC3?

Hmmm......
#1. Never saw the new "Battlestar".
#2. I'm a big fan of DS9.
#3. I'll go B5 on BD, only IF Warner formats the widescreen presentation properly (no cropping crap like on the DVDs).

and..........

#4. You DON'T mess with Captain Jack! ARRRRRGGGH!!!
"Pirates" all the way!!!

this saddens me because I like BSG much more than POTC. But I can't bring myself to by a player just for that one series. sorry universal.

Agreed, Paramount exclusivity would be a major win for Blu.

I never watched battlestar, so chances are I would not spend $100 for a TV series, lot of high priced stuff coming out on DUD and they brag about cheaper standalones-where is the logic?

And in return we get Painkiller Jane, Monster movies that are so bad you can't watch them, Reality TV (Who Wants to be a Superhero, Ghost Hunters, etc...) and of course the famous ECW (wrestling is not sci-fi )

The only show I'll be watching will be Stargate Atlantis, but I have a feeling Sci-fi channel will cancel this one too.

So Yes Pirates 3 will sell a more than Battlestar, I say at least 3 to 1
Don't forget The Invisible Man. I thought that was a great show. Eureka is a fun show too. But let's be honest about Sliders; it was a pretty cheesy show all along and got worse once it moved to the Sci-Fi Channel (and all Rembrandt left the show). And SG1 limped along the second half of the season (they sent the weapon through the supergate, did it kill the Ori? what about the fleet that still came through? Instead we get some crap episodes and that lame final episode that thankfully at least wasn't as insulting as Enterprise's finale).

But yes, I'd rather have BSG (or Heroes) than POTC3...but I won't buy an HD-DVD player for either. But I hate making decisions so if they all came out on Blu, I'd get all 3.

We all understand that POTC3 will crush BSG in sales when they're released.

Just that there are a lot of people on this forum who would rather own BSG over POTC3 (myself included).

If HD DVD supporters had any logic, they'd support Blu! :-D

100% agree with you. This is an HD DVD attempt at holding on for dear life.

Are you talking about the FX shots? They're not going to redo the FX in 110 episodes simply so they fit better in widescreen. You simply aren't going to be able to drop a 10 year old obscure TV show into the top 70 broadcast markets like they did with TOS, which is anything but obscure, nor is Sci-Fi going to pay for ANOTHER re-telecine.

The fact that HD DVD is pulling out a big gun exclusive for each huge Blu release

I find that Ironic, since Sliders and Stargate were both cancelled before SF saved them

Sliders did 2 awful no-budget seasons on Sci-Fi before it was mercy killed
Stargate DOUBLED its showtime run, and did TEN seasons, how can anyone complain about a show remaining at least decent for 10 seasons?

Farscape, well, we all know they majorlly screwed up there. There's new Webisodes coming, and I got from Brian Henson's lips last summer they'd love to do more. If the mainstream sales on the boxes do well for Sony I'd expect they may be interested in co-fiancing new material.

Half the reason Farscape was cancelled was because they got orders from on-high to get rid of all the shows they didn't own, Stargate being the exceptions because it was their top show. And let's not forget the head of USA Networks was, and I believe STILL Barry "The Sci-Fi Killer" Diller

Plus Pirates is Cheap on Amazon at 23 dollars. I mean the DVD version is 22 dollars, so what's there to lose again? Of course I'm buying Pirates 3. And the guy next to me, his mom next to him, and the girl next to her.
