Maybe one day I can see it happening but a certain studio needs to start releasing movies in the first place.

For movies that have a release date this is a good place to start. If you do not see it in there, then its already out or there is no word on it as of yet.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movie...how=comingsoon

Also on the main page in the news columns along the left hand side of the screen is a good place to find new releases that have just been announced.

failing that there is a search button in the forum which you can use to see if anyone has a thread on the movie.

on a personal note I would buy this series on Blu-ray without even thinking twice about it.

Completely different, and yet the same

The Adam West Batman raped an existing 30 years of established character from the comic

BSG was an original creation, and therefore the only "real" and "correct version. If it comes from a book, the book is the only correct version and so on.

Then Ron Moore and David Eick came around and raped 30 years of history of the characters

People are failing to seperate time(and timeslot), and the context in which the original was made from the gross purging of everything that made each character who and what they are, and of the baseline mythology. You can update without destroying just fine (look at the new Doctor Who). It's simply that Eicke and Moore had their own idea for a show and decided to ride BSG's proper nouns and barest outline to The West Fling (porn version of W. Wing) IN SPACE!

It kindof reminds me of iRobot. They just took the title and one character, Dr. Susan Calvin, and the three laws from the books. That's it. Will Smith's character isn't even in them. It's just funny. I enjoy both, the books especially.

WHAT THEY DID WAS UNACCEPTABLE AND THEY SHOULD BE HUNG BY THERE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS....

Im a old fan of the original, and what they crafted was the greatest insult to battlestar gallatica fans to ever grace the tv.

Btw I actually own the original 1985 movie made by universal on dvd...

I hope one day to see that movie brought to blue, and I pray that the abomination that is the new show be long forgotten the damage it did, has probably prevented a true restart...

If the first version is only real version... fine. The new BSG is the BETTER version. There, hope the word change fits.

Drives me nuts when people defend something on the basis of semantics alone...

Imagine if I said Gellar's Buffy was a half arsed crock b/c it was not the FIRST Buffy... *shiver*

I enjoyed the original BSG when it first aired on TV,
thought it had pretty good SFX for a TV show, it was fun
and campy. I like the new BSG much better, more of an
adult program with better SFX and better writing.

I believe it lost track when they decided to get wrapped
up in the Baltar trial. I like the fact that they included
current events in the storyline, its part of what made the
original Star Trek so good but it lost some of its
momentum when the pursuit of the humans by the
cylons was put on the back burner. Hopefully the last
season will put it back on the right course so to speak.

I for one respect the fact that they did not try to clone the original... had they, starbuck wouldn't have been a female... that said, the first one was about the scifi, this one is about the motivations and relationships...

You really can't compare the two, I liked the first, but I have to admit that I like the second more.

The first galactica is pretty funny... it's not serious a bit. Like the original star trek. I mean you watch that and you laught to no end... Maybe it's because i'am 30 and never saw the original live but only a couple of years ago (before the new series). Starbuck was the Kirk of the serie.. always good with woman yet a man of confiance

The commander was cool tought and the Cylons where nice too, the basic robot i mean...

It did prevent a true restart. And the series willl likely be brought to blu. They did a full retransfer in HD for the DVD box. I'm afraid it'll be the real version that will be forgotten unfortunately

If you check out those credits you'll find the name "Joss Whedon" on both in the writer/creator slot. The movie is what it is, the TV series represents what he wanted the movie to be. And before anyone brings it up, if you believe Glen Larson's name in the credits comes as anything more than a required payoff to keep him from suing them for devaluing his movies rights to the franchise....don't.

The problem that Joss has always had is that no one understands how to deliver his dialog or pace things so they're funny. He's responsible for example in X-Men for both the "you're a dick" and the "what happens to a toad" lines.

One person got it. Another didn't.
