Default I can wait

If I want a movie that bad I will not stoop down to that level and buy a HD-DVD player. If I want it I will just buy it in regular DVD.

Going neutral requires buying a Toshiba, and that means that Toshiba's sales numbers will rise. Please don't support their format and prolong this stupid war by giving big companies similar numbers to compare. Continue supporting Blu-ray, rent the HD-DVD exclusive movies on DVD at Blockbuster or Netflix, and show the people in charge that Blu-ray is dominant and will remain so.

Blu-ray will be the ultimate winner. Going neutral means that it will just take a lot longer.

why sell out like Paramount did?...

Paramount is arrogant enough to think they can cause serious damage in the format war...

and honestly...all it did was halt BD from nailing a 3:1...

we'll see more of those 2:1 numbers....

Man,
You limp wristed, weak kneed, flat foots really need to grow a spine. This was HD-DVDs last gasp. They were in BIG trouble and microsoft just threw them a life line. You guys should step up and denounce this. Help put an end to the war that will KILL HD media.

That is of course, unless you like faulty players, boiling discs and otherwise standing on your head while rubbing your bellies to get every other HD-DUD to play.

Me personally, I will never own that crap regardless of what movie is on it. IF microsoft succeeds in a few years you will have no one but yourselves to blame while you enjoy your crappy 720p VC-1 compressed to hell, play once and be done Microsoft "HD" downloads.

Next time you look at yourself in the mirror look closely. You may see that you have simply turned into a cow that is herded any direction the money wants you to go. You have lost all of your conviction, ambition and free thought. You have become a slave.

Someone who would willingly accept sub-par technology and lower standards just because 'they can't live without transformers' is the lowest form of life. To me anyway. It disgusts me that one would sacrifice things that will affect millions of other people for years to come over such materialistic and small matters.

It's not about Blu-ray or HDDVD. It's about the lying and misinformation and the behind closed doors deals. Why do you think they didn't publish how much they got paid in that press release? Is it because it would damage the worthiness of the news? Would it change the message drastically? Yes.

Demand better. Have the conviction to stand behind it. As an individual you do make a difference because when individuals begin to stand before long you have an army. It's what wins wars and supports freedom.

Read my signature.

I couldnt agree more - its pathetic! Transformers wouldnt even be in my top 200 movies. I thought it was just ok. Can live without it. I have lost a lot of respect for some on this website. Makes me laugh how fickle and weak a lot of people are.

If you really want your point to be taken seriously, you might rethink your style.

I guess the old saying "the truth hurts" really applies here. This is only a truthful viewpoint, I don't think the author was concerned about style.

I can not wait around any longer hoping some movies will go blu. Sure, V for Vendetta is, but a lot of great movies I really want won't for a LONG time. I need the Bourne movies, and a lot of others, especially if Over the Hedge and other Dreamworks movies go to HD. Format neutral is the way to go, as there won't be a winner for a few years at the very least. Time to start buying an Hd player and some HDDVDs (no longer HD Duds)
1 studio jumps ship and people like you who are "blu supporters" are suddenly thinking about dual formats. You think blu-ray will win, so do I, but thinking neutrality will only prolong this war, and if more "supporters" like you start thinking the same way, the table could easily be tipped.

If you are a true supporter, prove your allegiance and stay blu, at least for a while. Down the road Paramount will regret doing this

We'll hit 3:1 ratio with all those FOX titles. Paramount will come clamoring back like a beat dog, with its head low and tail between its legs!

While this is not good news, the fact that we have yet to have any bad news for BR has made us a bit spoiled. Be thankful this wasn't Warner and remember that Fox and Disney would almost certainly never switch since HD DVD wouldn't include features they are most concerned with.
excellent point. plus we have soooo much more on the horizon: BD-LIVE. BD-J. BD+. lower stand alone prices. the mainstay of the PS3 and its continued success. FOX releases...future WB holdover releases. it's ridiculous really. We ARE spoiled. and that's the problem with myself that I just realized. no HD-DVD for me. i'll just suck it up and buy paramount SDs. we have it good over here. paramount is the loser, we aren't!

Of all the placement fees, etc. that are surely changing hands over this format war, this one seems to be the lowest, the dirtiest, and one that most deservedly adorns the cloak of shame for being a genuine "sellout". Their move did nothing but strengthen my resolve toward supporting the Blu-ray format. Buying an HD DVD, particularly as a result of this move, rewards the greed of the individuals that could care less how much they upset consumers, particularly the larger number of trend setting, high def early adopters who are showing in sales numbers, they want Blu-ray.

What Paramount pulled today gives big business a bad name. I encourage you not to join them; let the brass at Paramont be the only ones crying in the shower tonight.

I cant help but laugh at you guys throwing stones.

Once again, I bought my tv and my BD player, and ILL buy my HDDVD player after thanksgiving. BD is not closing the deal and I want ALL my movies in HD. Im not going to watch 60% of them in HD while owning a $500 player just because Ill feel guilty about not supporting BD. Sheesh.

Yes BD is a superior format, BUT PQ is even. When it comes to movies Ill own both. Im tired of waiting, and the only way to enjoy HD Movies is to own both.

Yeah yeah, I also suck because Im watching Dish Network's 37 HD nationals at 1440x1080i instead of sticking by Comcast with their 12 nationals because they are ALLEGEDLY 1920x1080i . Im such a sellout.

There will ALWAYS be more Blu-rays to purchase that I want than I can afford. Especially with Fox back in, I can be assured than I will never run out of purchase options. WE STILL WIN.

I can't beleive I'm going to say this. But I have decided to go neutral, times have changed in a big way pertaining to this stupid format war. I was so set on getting Transformers and Shrek 3 on Blu...and now it can't happen unless I get a HD DVD player. So I will be purchasing a A2 this weekend. I hate this HD war
