True, but I will take any version of Dazed And Confused on blu ray at this point

You could always sell this version as well if they ever announce a better version (Criterion) in the future.

Excellent. I've been wondering when A Beautiful Mind would come out. Hopefully it'll have a great transfer, and boast all of the special features from the DVDs. I love this movie.

I will be picking up the Universal blu-ray regardless...I just hope Criterion gets another shot at releasing the blu-ray.

Let's just hope it looks better than the HDDVD. From what I've seen from reviews...it's pretty weak.

All directors prefer their titles to be handled by Criterion. The thing is, Wes Anderson, Terrence Malick, and David Fincher (the modern cinema directors) have all been very vocal about their titles being handled by Criterion for the blu transfer. Linklater has not yet even vocalized his commitment to the blu-ray format let alone any more of his films even making the Criterion spotlight. Needless to say he's been very absent in that regard. Plus, Criterion has been finding it very difficult as of late to acquire licenses from Universal. Criterion had a lot of Universal titles in their catalog for DVD, but Universal has made it clear that they want to distribute and handle their own for the HD format, which mind you is a colossal mistake. The treatment of their catalog titles has been nothing more than mediocre at best. Very disappointing if you ask me.

BTW, so far, of the 3 years Criterion has been releasing blu-rays not one has been a Universal title.

Well, a bunch of us over on the criterion forum think Criterion's last clue was for a BD release of Fear & Loathing, another Universal release that Criterion put out years ago on DVD. Uni put out its Blu ray not too long ago, but this clue hints at another release...this time by Criterion. So, long story short, it might be a possibility that if this pans out, Criterion could have other Uni titles on its schedule for the next year, and Dazed & Confused might be one of them.

All of the above is pure speculation...take it with a grain of salt...
