Nothing to worry about anywhere except the U.S., Blu-ray is kickin ass everywhere else. If HD DVD wins here in the end, I am moving to another country.

Couldn't agree any more strongly with both of those comments. I was always puzzled by many critics positive reception to Gambon. I'd be much happier with McKellan or O'Toole.
Gotta say that my whole family are looking forwards to seeing these on BD.

Michael Gambon is a rather different Dumbledore...at first I found him disconcerting, but there's no way he could have simply parroted Richard Harris' portrayal; he had to make the character his own. We'd all be happier (especially Richard Harris) if Mr. Harris hadn't passed away, but fans of the films should be happy they didn't have to recast Ron, Hermione, or Harry.

I had hoped for Paul Winfield as Harris' replacement, myself...

HD DVD is now 50 spots ahead of Blu-ray HP set.

Not sure why, but it's picked up a lot over the past week.

Blu-ray: 389
HD DVD: 339

at last look.

They have nothing else to buy...

But seriously, I think BD will kick HD in the read end here, especially when it's released in stores, not to worry.

I agree SJ

Blu-ray has consistently been ahead until the last few days.

The pessimist in me says it's due to all those cheap HD DVD player.

The optomist says it's just an anomaly.

Well, also not to mention the fact that it's AMAZON, and while it is a good benchmark, we all know the best benchmark in the end are the Neilsen numbers.

I ordered mine direct from Warner. And rankings on Amazon are no indication of even short term buying trends.

True, less people are putting their dollars into it while the BOGO is going... I am willing to bet, like clockwork, BD outsells the HD-DVD version 2 to 1 or greater, like just about everything else.

I agree...Blu-ray HP will outsell in the end. I'm ordering all 5 individually tomorrow when the 5th movie is released for pre-order. I'll order it through Warnerbros.com

Post Harry Potter; Who will win?

With the US release of Harry Potter years 1-5 coming out next week, a lot of people are speculating Warner Bros is looking at this release in particular the most. Some believe if Blu-ray outsells HD by a large margin with these films WB will go Blu-ray exclusive at the first of the year.

Which format do you think will sell the most?

Blu-ray will beat HD-DVD like a dawg in the Potter battle.

It always does, except for the Planet Earth anomoly.

There's only 1 HD DVD to ever outsell its Blu-ray counterpart . . . I don't expect that to change.

Just wondering though . . . do you expect many people to say HD DVD will outsell Blu-ray on a Blu-ray site?
