Default Harry Potter: Blu-ray vs. HD DVD rankings

I like to watch the sales between movies that are on both formats, I think it shows really where we're at in this "war".

I've been watching HP (boxset) and the Blu version has consistently been above HD DVD.

currently it's at:

189 for Blu
255 for HDDVD

Typically it seems that movies on both formats do better on Blu, see 300.

however, for some odd reason Planet Earth consistently is higher on HD DVD.

Anyone have any thoughts as to why?

for planet earth again. i think most people have purchased it from other places like i got mine from discovery.com because when they advertised the set they always advertised it as "go to www.discovery.com/planetearth to order"

where as with most movies they dont normally say go to bestbuy and buy it..

But wouldn't both formats go to discovery.com to order it?

189 for Blu and 255 HD-DVD? Did you get that backwards?

LOL

Even more interesting when looking at Harry Potter is that the single movies seem to jump back and forth, yet the gift set is always blu leading.

Is it a socio-economic deal?

Afterall Blu is more expensive for a player, could it be the boxset is more expensive thus more blu owners buy it?

No, the lower the number the better, i.e. #1 is better than #25.

HP in Blu is the #189th ranked seller , HP in HDDVD is the #255 best seller.

since amazon is well priced and since hddvd is region free, a lot of people buy planet earth(specially from uk) over here. that's why that particular title is higher for hddvd. of course the uk bought copies count in american numbers because amazon usa sold it. BS if you ask me, that's one of the reason why regions for movies exist. UK should just ban hddvd since it's lowering UK sales. ;D

I want the Harry Potters so bad but I think i'm waiting for the Full 7 films in a Big Box set. I told the lady yesterday (Who has all of the SD versions and will purchase the rest) that I wanted to buy them for the sole purpose of supporting Blu, she got all pissed because she wants the Box set of all the films. I may just buy them still just to spite her, you cant let em win or they come accustomed to it.

Sidenote: What the hell was J.K. Rowling thinking by announcing the whole story about Dumbledore being you know, "not like theres anything wrong with that" but in what mind set did she think that this would boost sales or make her legendary books become more popular. That was definately a "What the F!@% moment of 2007".

I'll buy the box set of the 5. From what I understand , the two slots in the box are taken up with the extras. I figure I'll take the extra outs eventually and put in the other two moves and keep the extras separate.

As for JK Rowling's comments, yea I don't care, but it was odd. It was just one of those things that really doesn't even add or take away from the storyline so why bother?

She stated in a Q&A that Dumbledore is gay.

Again, who cares, it's just a story. But, it was a bit out of nowhere.

I actually just read an article about it.... seems really odd. Maybe she is getting pressure from somewhere to deal with more current social issues?? very weird to come out of the blue with something like that tho.

I thought I heard there would be space for the final two movies in the box. I am not sure. Maybe someone will confirm this when it comes out. I on the other hand don't really care for boxed sets and would rather buy them individually.

I believe that there were a few *clues* and such through some of the various storylines in the books, and some readers picked up on that and were curious. The books themselves never definitively outed him, I guess, so she was simply confirming what some readers had wondered about over time.
