22 Jump Street was coming off the success of both the first 21 Jump Street. As well as The Lego Movie also which was directed by Lord and Miller too.

The the director of this (Luke greenfield) was coming off that Romantic Comedy I forget. I think it was called Something Borrowed and The Girl Next Door (The Elisha Cuthbert one)

So I would think critics give more lenient stuff to people whose done movies that were well received, compared to ones that weren't.

Wonder if Nina's movie career will take off if this does all right, especially since I doubt TVD will go past the 6th season.

I don't really think critics judge a movie based on the directors previous work

Oh, I'm sure that will last until the 10th season. Look at Supernatural which is gonna start its tenth season.

Really? All I have to say is look at Michael Bay. I'm not saying they all do. But some might.

With New Girl being my favorite sitcom and what I saw from the trailer before X-Men, this would be a guaranteed watch for me when it hits Blu-ray regardless of how low the RT score is.

People, not critics, definitely judge based on what has come before, but using Lord and Miller doesn't help your case because they've hit home runs every time thus far. People expected 21 Jump Street to be a terrible movie and bomb.

I just saw it. Beyond hilarious. I was laughing the whole way through and the movie had a really surprising awesome third act.

Really surprised how much I enjoyed it. The reviews made me go in not expecting much but it ended up being one of the better summer comedies.

22 Jump Street 9/10
Let's Be Cops 8/10
Neighbors 8/10
Tammy 4/10
Sex Tape 2/10

I saw it tonight and really enjoyed it. It's just harmless fun, the critics should lighten up a bit and just enjoy. It's not like anyone's expecting Truffaut.

Saw the film late this afternoon...thought it was average at best. 2 and 1/2 stars is my vote on a 5 star system. I thought there were a couple of funny scenes, but there should have been more. The plot kept me entertained, so that is why I give it an average score. I say no blind buying this and see it as part of a matinee showing if you must see this in theaters...just my 2 cents...I say worth $10 on blu ray for the plot keeping me entertained, I just wish this was more funnier to me...
