I would love for someone to explain to me what the artwork has to really do with anything? Does it really matter that it looks crappy? Aren't you buying this for the movie and not the artwork?

I buy for both. I've rebought a few titles for really great packaging. Heck, I bought two copies of EDGE OF TOMORROW - one from Best Buy for the 30 min featurette, and one from Target in the steelbook with the original title. I don't do that very often, but I totally get caring about the packaging, after all it's what I'll see sitting on my desk for weeks till I watch the thing, and on my shelf for years.

Actually, it does.

Maureen O'Hara's face on Blu-ray cover art always has that effect on me.

Are you share it's not Charles Laughton's face that does that to you? Come on, admit it. We're not here to judge.

As for cover art mattering, it does to me because I display a lot of my collection in my office. I prefer original advertising art for a movie, but not always. This particular film didn't shine in that department, so in all fairness, Cohen probably didn't have a lot of choices. But as a student of design, I would say there is nothing striking about this cover at all. YMMV.

I actually like the Cohen artwork on their releases. Yes, I like great artwork too on the Blu-rays I buy but it's not going to deter me from actually buying it and enjoying the film(s) if I don't.

Oh no, it doesn't deter me either if I want the film. I'm speaking from a critical standpoint, not a practical one.

I hope they include subtitles with this. I don't buy movies when the company is too cheap or lazy to include them. I would consider making an exception for an Alfred Hitchcock movie, but I'd be happier if they included them.

I'd love to get this but it's a bit off-putting they don't have subtitles. I can hear perfectly but usually use subtitles so I can know exactly how a characters name is spelled and more. Just out of habit.
Hopefully Nissen makes a custom cover to match his other Hitchcock ones.

[Show spoiler]This for me is a blind buy but I don't care. I have a major goal on of owning all of Alfred Hitchcock films on Blu-ray.

It is a shame they couldn't do an interview with Maureen O'Hara

Yeah, Kino had a lengthy list of truly terrible discs during their early days. Those Jamaica Inn caps look like they were taken from a VHS tape playing on a security camera.

DVD. The DVD Beaver review has comparison caps from the Kino/Laserlight DVDs and the Cohen DVD.

Picked up That Man from Rio and they have a preview of Jamaica Inn at the beginning. Wasn't as bowled over as I thought I'd be. A lot of the shots in the preview looked pretty soft, but then again who knows the source.

I just found out that the Bluray doesn't have English subtitles!

Is it too much to ask? I can't understand anymore..

edit: Oh, i just saw that other English blurays also don't have subtitles.
Cohen seems to be pulling an Olive.
I'm sorry but i cannot support this kind of thing as much I love the movie and want it on Bluray!
