Heat (1995) (Director's Definitive Edition)

The Fugitive's first BD release is pretty bad but I still haven't picked up the remastered disc yet. Heat's BD is way better so unless there's some really substantial new bonuses I doubt I'll be springing for this reissue.

The Heat BD looks better than The Fugitive (remastered or not) BD. I don't see anything wrong with it, other than the possible color tampering.

The comment that the blu ray of Heat doesn't look better than the DVD probably ranks #1 on the list of dumbest things I've ever read on this forum.

Yup, very happy with the Heat BD. Can't believe someone thought it didn't look better than the DVD

I didn't see this discussed...but one of the reasons to buy this flick is that, beyond being a great movie, Ashley Judd is so damn fine to look at it's not funny.

True. I had a hearing test done last year as I developed some ear ringing (Tinnitus) and was surprised at my hearing loss which was somewhat moderate actually. I really don't have any big issues hearing people or even with movies although sometimes dialogues can seem a little low. This is when I wonder if it's the mix or my ears (or both). A lot of home theater/music enthusiasts probably have hearing loss from years of blasting their systems. I try not to exceed 85 db or so these days having measured with a sound meter certain peaks in movies (explosions, guns, etc.).

This is the best movie and I don't own it yet and happy to pick up 20th Anniversary Edition.

The transfer for the first blu-ray edition is a freaking disgrace.

Never really felt that passionately about a transfer before.

...wouldn't bother with this unless it's remastered.

Then let me hear your facts.

What are the factual deficiencies this transfer suffers from? What factual short comings could you point to that make this one of the worst transfers out there that make this one a disgrace?
