Looking forward to seeing this in 3D; folks I've talked to who have seen it have spoken highly of it. Also intrigued by the director attempting to get a 3D release out in the US.

Also noticed a few posts back that someone mentioned the standard Canadian BD only has English audio, and wanted to mention (in case anybody reads this thread in the future) that the Canadian BD actually features both English *and* French audio (and subs for both as well).

If you had checked before you posted, you would have seen that that post (at the top of this page) had already been corrected to avoid any confusion or further off-topic discussion about the 2D edition of the film.

The film has been released on 3D Blu-ray in France, Italy, Germany and Hong Kong so those are the editions to be looking out for.

Ah, great, I'm glad that earlier post was clarified. It looks like it was just updated yesterday after I first mentioned the issue in a post yesterday.

I wasn't aware there were such strict rules about any off-topic mentions in posts here. Having been a member here for over eight years, I've often seen threads with comments that take slight tangents. It looks like there's a post above mine over two months old asking about an old Nickelodeon TV show which doesn't mention Blu-ray at all or have anything to do with the 2015 film at all, and there are several other posts in this thread that have no 3D-related content whatsoever.

I should have fixed that post a long time ago. Yes, far too many threads go hopelessly off topic and almost all of that is left alone but discussion of 2D editions always gets confusing in a 3D thread so that gets moved or deleted.

All this talk makes me actually want to watch this movie now... (I have the French edition)

I'd thought I'd read the German item was German only (maybe a differnet forum). There are multiple reviews in Amazon.de that seems to confirm the 2D and 3D have only German audio and subtitles.

The Hong Kong appears to have English as well as a couple other languages plus is Region A just for a bonus. DDDHouse appears to have for about $19.50 shipped. DDDHouse has a weird listing that makes it look like a DVD, but I think that's a quick of that site. The description certainly indicates Bluray 3D

I have the last 2 already -- Spivet from a recent Amazon.de sale and Robinson Crusoe/The Wild Life from Amazon.de from a couple years ago during a sale. Placed an order with DDDHouse overnight.

I did notice an Amazon.it version which is just a little cheaper and appears to have English Audio tracks as well. Amazon.it shipping has always been spotty for me so $1.50 extra and I'll try Hong Kong first.

So the French BD has some burnt in subtitles and the songs by Camille is in French regardless of English/French audio being selected.

Can anyone who owns the Hong Kong release confirm whether the songs are sung in French or English?

Also I’m curious if there are any animation differences between the versions. On Netflix all the signs are in English but small text like the calendar or the pages of the book are rendered in French. On the French BD is all in-world text in French or English?

You've answered your own question. Think about it. There wouldn't be any need for forced subtitles on the French version if all the in-world text was in French.

This is an interesting one because it's a french story made in a French studio but technically (as I understand) made primarily as an English language film?

It's very common for CGI animation blurays to have branching playback where they have separate chapter files for sections with in world text so they can replace it with a render with different localisations. This is increasingly common and utilised more and more.

If the Netflix version has English for some stuff but French for the rest that would suggest to me that in world text is all French by default but with some stuff animated in English when it is very relevant to the plot.

Does the French BD have French text for the English in world text parts seen during the Netflix version?

As for your actual question, I have the DDDhouse version, but I'm too lazy to dig out the box to check right now. I was planning to watch it soon, so if I remember I'll report back!

Also, for anyone who is interested it is on sale at $13.67 right now at dddhouse. This is a must own 3D bluray IMO.

If you can play Region B, I grabbed this one from Rarewaves for $8 Canadian with free shipping. It’s the Italian edition and has an awesome slipcover also.

Great to see its getting a 2d release, but quite frankly 3d is the only way to fly with this movie...it is that quality. I got it from DDDhouse at the start of the pandemic. Go get it!!!

I'm having Paypal errors when trying to order from DDDHouse, so if that's just not related to a problem with my acct, it could spell trouble for others as well.

Hi Vinny, hope there isn't a problem with DDD house because even with shipping their prices are great on the Asian titles compared to other sites.

Is there anyone here that maybe has the korean edition and can confirm if the disc menu's are english only or if they do contain asian text? Also, what are the running times for the special feature interviews and are all the special features english friendly?

Additionally, would any one be able to confirm the running times of the special feature interviews of the canadian release?

I'm not aware of Korean version. Is there? The one I just got was Hong Kong. I also saw a Japan version.
