I absolutely understand this philosophy, but some of us have an affinity for the packaging. I come from a time when music was on vinyl. Man, there was nothing like opening a gate-fold double album replete with a giant-sized poster, colorful liner notes/lyrics, stickers, and the like. There's a lot to be said about the tactile (and even olfactory) nature of physical media, the content notwithstanding. I rue the day physical media is dead, but I know it's coming.

He's mocking those of us who make fun of slipcovers for caring about cover art, because he cannot understand they are two different things.

Nah! Won't be happening any time soon! In fact a whole new format was just born!
Yeah I was just double checking with my previous statement that folks were sticking to their guns about discs. Hey it's okay to come over to the "dark side" and have folks admit they like art/packaging!

Enjoy! We all have our thing. I just tend to get irritated when a thread talks more about slips than the movie or disc, which irritates Rickah, and then he makes a snarky post with a smiley at the end and we're all heading toward slow mental breakdowns.

Stop the violence!

Exactly!

I like the engine in my car, as it plays a major role in getting me from point A to point B...but the AC, radio and custom paint job are all great bonus features that make up the entire....wait for it...package!

Uhm, I'm not irritated.
But it does sound like you're irritated.

I see. I missed the banter. Must have been distracted by the shiny...

Edit: Looking at it more closerly it seems to be some sort of yearbook.

I hope they improve the cover... especially fix Archangel's wing. But I do like the yearbook idea. At least we know Cyclops will be represented.

I dig the artwork. Stop complaining, people. The movie is the most important aspect.

The movie is definitely the most important aspect but as a consumer you want the best possible product for the money you're spending.

Studios and distributors keep implementing cost-cutting measures (e.g. eco-cases, generic magazine cover art - see BvS, lack of disc art, etc.) but we the public don't see the dollar savings in the prices. It's a trivial issue for some but others still have a right to complain about it.

What I see is shitty, lazy covert art with no effort. If you can look past that, good for you.

I wonder if that X-Men yearbook will be like the Fantastic 4 photo diary.

I know there aren't many fans of the 2015 Fantastic 4 movie, but if anyone here did happen to get the Target Exclusive DigiBook with the Photo Diary, can you tell me if it is the same size (height and width) as a standard blu-ray case, or if it's bigger like some digibooks are?

The Fantastic Four target exclusive is a little bigger than the standard blu-ray case.

Thank you for the info. I wanted to consider that in case this X-Men digibook is the same size as the FF book. I don't have any digibooks, so this might be my first.

Looks like we're getting an X-Men: Beginnings Trilogy Blu-ray release:

Repackage, repackage, repackage, is it ever going to end? I guess eventually there can be a mega 100 disc set with 4K, 3D, 2D Bluray & DVD of all 3 series X-Men original trilogy, X-Men Reboot series, & Wolverine trilogy + if they continue all in one set.

Well.. IF Fox released new trilogy sets like this, I'd upgrade without hesitation:

Original Trilogy (9-Disc):

X-Men (3-Disc: 4K+BD+Bonus Disc)
X2: X-Men United (3-Disc: 4K+BD+Bonus Disc)
X-Men: The Last Stand (3-Disc: 4K+BD+Bonus Disc)

Beginnings Trilogy (9-Disc):

X-Men: First Class (2-Disc: 4K+BD)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (4-Disc: 4K+3D+"Rogue Cut" BD+Bonus Disc)
X-Men: Apocalypse (3-Disc: 4K+3D+BD)

Pipe dream, really..

So, is Best Buy having a steelbook for this? There's no listing on their site.
