I certainly understand the sentiment but you have to realize that the first round of sequels came out on DVD 15 years ago! Many people forget those discs that predated the first Legacy sets. Then the Legacy sets were issued on DVD in 2004.

It's one thing to hold out for a year or two but no monster fan would reasonably be expected to hold out for 13 or more years. I wish these hadn't cost me so much money on DVD but I have had 15 years of enjoyment from them so I have no regrets.

No trailers on the Frank or Drac Blu sets...
there's a solid reason to keep your old dvd's and be glad you picked them up.

I'd be surprised if trailers appear on these new sets ( and was rather surprised they were all MIA on the Blu sets last fall ).

Interesting. I didn't notice the trailers were missing.

I've bought so many of these DVDs ever since they first started coming out in 1999 (single main monsters, box set, then the double-features of sequels, then the Legacy sets, then those gold ones, etc.), but once Blu came around, I started selling all the DVD's off to make back some of the $$$ spent back. Thankfully, I waited out the first wave of individual Blu releases and the giant box, because it was obvious Universal was following the same release plan as before and Legacy sets (which I prefer) would be coming eventually.

I don't care squat about most extras, except for trailers. Oh well. Considering I didn't even notice they had been dropped from the Blu sets, I suppose I can do without.

There is a trailer gallery on the Frankenstein disc that has trailers for all the films save House of Dracula (which is on the Dracula blu, along with Daughter and Son) and Son of Frankenstein (which was never on the DVD's either). The A&C Meet Frankenstein disc has its own trailer.

I have the Essential Universal Classic Monsters set, and as much as I really want to have all the films, I really do want to avoid double dipping with all the overlap these sets have (ironic, knowing what my collection is like).

With these sets coming out, that just leaves The Creature From The Black Lagoon and The Invisible Man, and I'm hoping once these sets come out, we'll see a giant box set containing all the films (hopefully without all the overlap these sets do). If that materializes, I'll get that. Otherwise, I'll suck it up and get the individual Legacy sets.

I'm holding out for a boxset of all the movies. Is it possible?

Not only possible but probable. Though it may take a while.

They did a 30 movie DVD set in 2014 so its definitely possible. However it featured sets dedicated to each monster, same as what the new BD sets are doing, so there's a lot of movie overlapping. Hopefully this will somehow be avoided if they do a complete BD box set.

The same thing happened when the CLASSIC MONSTERS ESSENTIAL COLLECTION was first announced. There was no mention of the Spanish Version of DRACULA anywhere! Their initial advertising materials even specified 8 Films, which had me scared that they weren't going to include the Spanish version. But as we all know, it was there. So I assume the same thing will happen this time, especially as it's likely they will just use the exact same disc as was authored for the ESSENTIAL COLLECTION.

Although I agree that Bela Lugosi's performance as Dracula blows away Carlos Villarías' in the Spanish version, in most all other aspects I find the Spanish version to be superior.

It says four discs for the Mummy set, but I wonder if that's a mistake & it's three, the DVD set was three discs, & my old flipper set was only two DVDs (without the A&C film).

I find the Lugosi Dracula the superior of the two, however, there are more fluid camera moves in the Spanish version that give it a more cinematic feel; the Browning feels very stagey, especially when the film hits London.

Still love it, though!

They break down the disc contents, so it's likely four. I could see them releasing the A&C disc separately or in a future set, so that's possibly why they put it on its own disc.

I was curious about that myself, and it may be stretched out to four in an attempt to justify the $40 price point. It may also be an attempt to get 2 movies on one blu each for possible double-feature re-issues, with the A&C on its own disc (possibly Best Buy exclusives, they do seem to be through Universal these days). They could do the same for the Dracula discs and the already released Frankenstein and Wolfman discs.

This is all speculation on my part, just mulling over possible future marketing scenarios. Can't really disagree with those that don't find that economically feasible for Universal, as interested fans would probably just go for the complete sets.

Strange though that the Mummy Legacy have Scandinavian subtitles according to press release but the Dracula don't include the Scandinavian subtitles..makes no sense.

I'm all over the Mummy collection. I have the Wolfman collection but don't need the rest....I have enough copies to start my own Universal monster vault of the Dracula and Frankenstein movies.

For me, that Spanish version is more of a curiosity than anything else. Many film lovers prefer the Spanish version of Dracula because of the slight improvements in camera angles (which were sometimes altered using the dailies from Tod Browning's Dracula as templates) and because of the slightly-amped sex appeal of the women, but, for me, Bela Lugosi seals the deal when it comes to the English language version being the superior one.

It's still strange to see it omitted from a Dracula collection, though.
I see no reason that they'd re-author the disc. It's probably just a typo that it's omitted.

Here we go with the "oh no redundant copies" thing again. Whooooooo caaaaaares? These were $24 last time, which is so cheap it matters not at all. Unless you literally only want one movie from the collections I don't want to hear any complaints! Nope! Zip it! One more word out of you it's straight to bed with no supper!

When I bought the Frankenstein set, I just figured I had bought everything from Son of onward, and got two shiny coasters as a free gift.
