It is not included in the AMC re-mastered TV Cut. The Shout TV cut is essentially the AMC re-master of the original TV Cut that premiered on television in the mid 80's. The AMC re-master corrects the color timing of the extra scenes to match the color of the theatrical scenes, but omits the scene of Mr. Garrett, Bud, and Jill.

I definitely remember that scene airing on AMC back in the day because I thought it was a weird line delivery as a kid.

I also have a rip of the AMC Broadcast Master Tape, and I just checked to make sure that scene is present in it. Not sure what happened along the way that it's not in Shout's release, but it was in AMC's copy of the master tape.

So the included Blu ray will probably be the same as the BD from the steelbook, unless they got new interviews. The TV but will also be on the Blu ray disc? I doubt they would package a DVD with a 4K+BD combo pack.

I wonder if the included BD will be the same as the one in the SteelBook or not?

Looks like the extras between the boxed set and that SteelBook are identical except a still gallery was added to the SteelBook. Omission from mention doesn't bother me, but having something mentioned but not there/missing makes it look like a set you bought off ebay that is marked as BD + DVD and missing a disc. The audio codecs are the same, 5.1 and 2.0, though it appears that the boxed set was dual mono instead of stereo?

Thinking about reusing the boxed set case insert...better art.

And even that photo gallery was on the boxset’s bonus disc. The movie disc itself was recycled from Scream Factory’s 2012 disc, and I believe the “stereo” track used was a down-mix from the 5.1.

Probably. My guess is that this’ll just be what the 2018 release was, just in 4K.

The bonus disc from the 2014 set had one new feature for II (the stills gallery) and SOTW (an interview) that were brought into the 2018 steelbooks. They also added subtitles and had the new transfer, but otherwise, the content was the same.

There are two versions of the AMC Master. Re-mastered and non re-mastered. The non-remastered doesn't omit the Bud, Mr. Garrett and Jill scene, but the color timing of the additional scenes does not match the color timing of the original theatrical scenes. The re-mastered version (which is the version Shout used), matches the color timing for all scenes but omits the Bud, Mr. Garrett and Jill scene.

It will be a shame if this is the case. I really would like for SF to step up to the plate and get a fresh 4K UHD scan from the OCN rather than the IP that was given to us a few years ago. Did the OCN just burn up in flames like Michael Myers? Is it too damaged to work from anymore? This is the chance to release all the films in a definitive way.

It’s a good chance that SF wasn’t able to do a 4K restoration of the original camera negative. We gotta remember that SF doesn’t have the funds to do that. Be happy that SF is doing a 4K UltraHD Blu-ray.
