They're talking about HD-DVD.com, which was a site a lot like this one, Blu-ray.com , except playing for the other side. They're not talking about the official HD DVD site.

That URL now just dumps you in the Amazon.com HD DVD store front page.

Has it actually been officially established that the same people owned Blu-ray.com and HD-DVD.com? I thought all that was known is they used the same holding service for anonymously owned domains, which doesn't necessarily mean anything.

EDIT: Apparently it's well known that Blu-ray.com and HD-DVD.com are owned by the same people and they have some of the same moderators.

I agree. The format war is over, so redirect people here. Better yet, redirect them to a page explaining how Blu-ray has won the format war so if they were looking for information about HD DVD all they really need to know is that it's dead.

On the other hand, it is a valuable URL for redirecting people to Amazon and making a few bucks on their purchases of the last remaining HD DVDs, so I won't begrudge them that.

Correction: The same people ran both forums.

I never made it over to HD-DVD.com, except for clicking through the occasional "look at what these goofs are saying" link posted here.

MODS

Please merge this with the other thread and put it back in General Discussion!

This is HUGE news people need to discuss and probably 80% of casual browsers visiting the site only go to this forum section because it is linked in so many places.
