You rockin' a 2016 telly or something? Not knocking it of course, good on ya for doing what ya like, but I'd guess the "I'll choose 3D over 4k" market is extremely small now since 3D TVs dead. Makes sense they'd do this.

My 3D TV crapping out on me is what finally motivated me to get a projector. The 3D train keeps a rollin' for some of us. But I understand why the majors gave up on the format. I just wish Universal would do a small batch of MOD discs for the stunning conversion of the original from 2022, or let someone like Kino or VS put it out.

Not directed at me but I recently bought a 50” Panasonic Plasma TV from someone that can do 3D for $20

I also have my 2016 C6 OLED that I left with my mom— she put it in her guest room so when I’m in town visiting I usually bring a couple 3D movies I want to rewatch. So there are ways lol.

My main criticism is so much of the movie is taken up by a repeat of Brody being dismissed by the towns leaders and what a surprise, by the time they accept it, it's too late. As you say, the story beats hit the same places.

It's different window dressing on top, I grant you. Same window though. Jaws 2, to me, is the definition of a by-the-numbers sequel. But, you know, if you're a huge fan of Jaws and simply want more I can totally understand how Jaws 2 would give you exactly what you craved. I'm right there with you in enjoying by-the-numbers sequels of some of my own absolute favourite films that I first saw at the right age for them to have made a lifelong impact. Fright Night 2 is a pretty good example of that for me, it's a different story but it follows exactly the same pattern as the first. I don't care though, I love the original Fright Night and a sequel with many of the same actors and hitting the same beats is exactly what I want there.

Back to Jaws 3, it ticks the boxes for me. I've said elsewhere in the forum today or yesterday that the bad films are often the most fun to watch. It's the Citizen Kane argument, that may well be a masterpiece but I get more fun out of a beer and an Ed Wood movie.

The back also differs with certain sections in different colors and arranged differently including text layout, SDS listed as distributor instead of Universal Studios and a copyright release of 2023 whereas the original release has a copyright of 2020?

I got an Epson 2200 thats now been discontinued. I got it refurbished from Epson for a song and I'm amazed at how good a 1080p image (3D and 2D) looks projected by such a mid-to-lower tier projector. I love it.

The 3D blu-ray was not handled by the 3D Film Archive, as Shout decided to handle it themselves, so there was a fair amount of vertical alignment issues, which was common with many older 3D films and correctable if done right. The 3D blu-ray was also a pre-release print, with incorrect opening titles and a missing effects shot.

Jaws 3D was much worse, with many of the so-called gimmick shots involving extremely poor opticals like the famous shark through the window. The composition of the 3D photography was also nowhere near as good as Amityville 3D, appearing lackluster and uninspired. Add to that alignment issues, and the general poor quality due to the over/under single-frame 3D photogrpahy, and it comes off as quite poor.

The 3D conversion of the original Jaws that played in theatres a while ago was far better than the natively shot Jaws 3D from 1983.
Not in my opinion. I much prefer the Golden Age 3D. In just going off what I watched, everyone will have different views of course.

The delivery of "daddy, daddy, look at the fish!" plus his "holy shit!" response always cracks me up.

I also find it amusing that they all panic because they see a large shark slowly (or well, swimming at medium speed) approach from a distance. Why assume it will even attack them and try to break the tunnel? Naturally it does just that, so their instincts were right, but.

Of course the Jaws sequels operate entirely on "dumb monster movie" logic. Which is part of the fun.

Man, I love Jaws 3! It has a pretty good soundtrack, a great cast, a great story and a great concept. Unfortunately, it's all brought down by bad directing (Alves should have never been hired to direct this) and pretty bad special effects (made even worst by the 3-D effects). Still, I keep going back to it, there's too much good stuff in it not to.

I do wish Hank Searls had gotten the chance to write the novelization. He did such a fantastic job with Jaws 2 that I could have seen him improving on Jaws 3. Oh well, what could have been.

Edit: On a different note, now that I own a house, I was finally able to find space to display my Jaws collection. It's all a little more squish together than I'd like to but I promised my wife I'd keep all of my Jaws stuff in one display case haha.
Jaws 3 and 4 in 4k will be nice additions.

Just the setting makes me like this movie. Love me some "amusement park in danger" action!

Agree, the setting is actually the best part of this movie. I've always been curious what Richard Matheson's original script was like.

LOL, for 3D I sure am. I have one of the last Samsung models. I don't watch 3D very often, but IMO it's the only way to watch this one, or F13th Part 3, which are really the reasons I keep it around. It's active shutter, and the newer active shutter glasses they have actually make it look better than ever - they have fixed the whole dimness thing, so the picture is so clear and bright in 3D.

It's definitely not my main TV, but I do hope to keep it around as long as possible.
