Exactly what constitutes an "old classic?" Pre-1960?

Most of the "older" films I'd willingly buy on Blu-Ray are from the late 1960s and 1970s, but I'm not sure they'd qualify as "old classics."

I want stuff like Some Like It Hot, Citizen Kane, Stalag 17, Bridge on the River Kwai, Nosferatu, The Apartment, An Affair to Remember, Hitchcock stuff, Chaplin stuff, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Sunset Boulevard(SP?) and stuff like that

All the Hitchcock, Wizard of Oz (since it was the one involved in the "wow" factor forever known as "Technicolor" ) and I'm sure there are others... but I'm most excited for those I guess.
