I think that if Moster can lower there prices and sell the product themselves instead of having CC and BB push it in your face every chance they get, they will be a much better company in the long run.
I agree but if you ever work one the stores you wold understand why the push it in your face, It;s like McDonlds asking you if you'd like fires with that burger, see at the stores they make the most money on cable and Assories .more than TV's and dvd players.etc.. so thats whay they push it . big mark up. I agree & yes thier own stores would be great but then again the price would be the same ,,why because now they have to pay for a building or rent then Elec, gas water , inssur..etc. so bottom line it would'nt lower the price, probally make it higher ..LOL Think about it thats why Blockbuster wants to buy Circuit City , if they do this they can put a video store in each CC and save thouands on renting other places ,and also they would have hier own movie invetory at thier finger tips..I don't like it but not a stupid move.for them.

I agree with Sandman it's a good brand and you are getting your money
worth.Monster cables are sturdy and their patented 'turbine cut' RCA
connectors provide a very good grip.

We as HT enthusiasts spends hundreds if not thousands of dollars on
our systems so what's there's to gripe about spending a bit more on
cabling to give us the satisfaction of enjoying good sound and video
thru good cables.
I feel the same way , Just like when I bought my TV,At BB they tried to sell me the Extra Warrt. Now way for less money I bought the Monster Cable power center and it covers the same for less on alot of things .

Work out a settlement. It should read shakedown legitimate businesses. Because of this crap it's going to be harder and harder to find good prices on cables because of "nominal licensing agreements". Thank God for Kurt Denke.

Sorry, now I know I don't like him.
I agree with you alot of the issues , In the past 10 years law suits have been stupid in crazy , his legeal action is his problems not mine,

But let me ask you this , if you invented something and every one wanted to use it or the name you made up , would you let them do it for FREE?? It's funny my son said this the other day , and I asked him the same ? if it was you'r invention or you song or movie would'nt you be mad if someone stole it from you or was making money off your hard work . so I rest my case on this , I have tought of so many things in the past to make ,and did I do nope , but 5 years down the road someone else did & they are getting rich off it, my bad ,

Now if someone started a company called Monster Wire or Monster Electronics they would have reason to go after those companies(definitely the first maybe the second). But going after the Chicago Bears for using the nickname "Monsters of the Midway", a name in use since the 40's I believe(any Bears fans here who can verify?) just makes them look like jackasses.

Don't take this as an attack on you. At the end of the day they are your purchases and your the one that has to be happy with them. I don't really even have a problem with their prices, If you can make the same product as someone else but charge more for it, by all means go for it. I just have a problem with a company that uses intimidation and threats to strong-arm smaller companies into submission. That's why I am watching the Blue Jeans Cable situation. It appears they finally picked on the wrong "little guy".

Like has been said before, their pricing is of no concern to me. Many companies grossly overcharge for their run-of-the-mill products... my biggest beef is going into a big-box retailer, looking for a cable and being able to ONLY find Monster...

ahh, but he didn't make up the word Monster. To sue the Chicago Bears for Monsters of the Midway when that term was used back in the 40's and even before that for the Univ of Chicago? Shame on Monster Cables

If a company opened up called Munster Cables and designed similar looking cables then sure, he should sue. I would be willing to bet the used close store owner that used Monster in her name might not even know Monster cables and is not trying to get rich off of their hard work.

It looks to me that they have chosen to use lawsuits not as a way to defend their IP but of a business strategy.
Edit: Sorry, I hadn't gotten to Rob's post above, he beat me to it...

Sandman however brand loyal you might be. There is NO excuse to spend more than 5 bucks on a hdmi cable, or any other digital cable at that.

Seriously?

I'm relatively certain that it was actually RCA who invented the RCA cable. Go figure.

As for the word Monster, to which they claim sole ownership, that was invented sometime around the year 1300... I suppose they were around then?

I agree with this. Before they went after Blue Jeans Cable I never paid them any mind. If someone asked my opinion I'd point them to Monoprice or Blue Jeans. But now, If I'm anywhere Monster products are sold and see someone looking a one of their products I will walk up and start a conversation just so I can inform them of their pricing and that there are other options. I wonder if this entitles me to a discount at Mono or Blue Jeans?
