It's fairly more complicated, but if once setup he won't have to keep downloading the updates to the PC and then to a usb drive and so on and so forth. This website is supposed to be of help to home theatre enthusiasts, instead of arguing let's try to help him. please.

wired connection is easier, less options to go through. can't you move your ps3 quickly for a wired connection and then update?

click it and keep pressing right directional button! let it all configure for itself. test the settings then bravo! all you need to do is create a ps3 PSN (user account)

like i said just go through it without worrying about the settings to much, leave it on what is highlighted. from the sounds of it your not going to be using it a great deal so dont worry about connection settings to much! as long as you can download System updates

Pefect, so you have a wireless network . The next thing to do is to find out your WEP key for your router because the ps3 will ask for it, this is a protection so that other people may not access your wireless network and steal your internet signal. Ok, I don't exactly where your WEP key exactly is but mine is located in the router. Go to your router and look for a bar code below the bard code mine has a series of number between brackets, that's my wep key. try and look for something similar in your router... the WEP key should be 10 numbers long.

Your network should be the one that says WPA@ P2K since is the one that gives you the strongest signal. That's what the 100% means

With most routers, the WEP is made during the initial setup of the router.

Do you know which one of those is yours? It's most likely the MA wireless network because of the signal strength. But, if you don't know the WPA password, just select the KLM listing and use it. It won't need a password to access it and you can d/load using it. However, keep in mind that it is someone else's internet connection. You can't really get in trouble for using it, but they could password protect it at some point later down the road and cut you off from their internet.

That's an encryption algorithm to secure your network, basically a password. It should be 5 characters.

that's the series of numbers that you're looking for. Try looking for them where I told you on your router. It should be a series of 10 numbers. Well In my case is 10 numbers and my ps3 as well as my wii don't recognize anything less than 10 numbers.

Great... did someone from Dell come set up your computer? Or did it just show up in a box and you had someone hook it up for you? If so, whomever set up your computer/router would have put a password on the router to protect your wireless signal from others looking to leech your signal. You'll want to contact that person who set it up and find out if they remember the password or if they remember writing it down somewhere for you.
