I hope Twilight Time announces The 3 Worlds of Gulliver on Saturday. Sony's done a great job with their Harryhausen scans so far so this release should be just as awesome.

This set is certainly worth importing, right?

I don't own this set, but I do own the standalone Via Vision release of The Golden Voyage of Sinbad and that looks and sounds fine to me. About £130 cheaper than the Twilight Zone release as well, if scalpers on eBay are to be believed. I don't see why the other films in the set should be any different from their American counterparts, I imagine Sony gave them the same masters as they used themselves or licensed to TT. Just don't mention the isolated scores.

I'm hoping for an Aussie release of The First Men in the Moon next.

The TT release is still available and it's one of their best ever. Certainly the greatest Harryhausen restoration out there.

I have 1080i C4 versions of Gulliver and Gwangi - both look great.
Gwangi has switched over to BBC2 but their broadcast a few weeks back was not billed as HD

Hey, I'll flat out say it, I think Twilight Time releases are overpriced for what they are, at least from this side of the pond; even ordering The First Men in the Moon direct from Screen Archives works out at about £18, plus the possibility of a £10 import duty hit if Custom and Excise decide to open the package. I wouldn't pay that, whereas £10 all in for The Golden Voyage of Sinbad all the way from sunny Australia seemed legit. If Via Vision release First Men, I'll buy it, if not, then I'll carry on watching the DVD I've had since 1999. After all, the waiting game paid off for BDs of Christine and Night of the Living Dead and is about to for Love and Death.

I've got no personal gripe if people want to support Twilight Time; if I lived in the States, I'd support them too. That 5,000 mile stretch of Atlantic tends to get in the way sometimes. Alas, I'm a cheapskate.

Mind you, this looks nice.....

TT are absolutely overpriced compared to their competitors and the market. The question is how bad you want those movies. I wanted First Men in the Moon pretty bad.

Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Jason and the Argonauts and The Golden Voyage of Sinbad are all direct ports of the US versions. The 7th Voyage is the only one with a different (lesser) encode.

Thanks! Re-checked through DVDCompare.net and it's the same what I read months ago when first researching this.

Oh right! Remembered 7th Voyage is the one I'd be buying the USA release of and just putting it with the set because of the AU encode. Based on comparisons I've seen awhile ago from Caps-a-Holic.

Now I just need to find the best price. (JB-HiFi or Fishpond?)

Absolutely! Four great movies for a great price. And they're region free.

But I'm multi-region capable! Oh, I don't mind.

When does the coupon expire? Cause I'd also be buying Jason and the Argonauts in the order. Especially to put a custom Criterion LD-to-DVD disc with it as the second disc.

It's about damn time I finally start my Ray Harryhausen Blu-ray Collection.

I can't wait to get The Valley of Gwangi on blu-ray. I'm not sure why Warners is waiting on this when every other Ray Harryhausen film has been released or announced (The 3 Worlds of Gulliver should be announced any day now by Twilight Time). It's great to hear that those who have seen some form of hd broadcast of Gwangi all say that it looks really good.

No need to get Jason and the Argonauts with your order because it's part of that 4 movie set (unless you want a stand alone copy as well). Now is a great time to start your Ray Harryhausen blu-ray collection since every one of his movies has either been released or announced in HD except for The Valley of Gwangi. The 3 Worlds of Gulliver will be officially announced some time this month by Twilight Time.

Oh, right. That company is one I'll never support though due to reasons I'd rather not get into. So I'll hold off on another company releasing it, perhaps Via Vision.
I should get the Sony set too while I'm at it.
No idea why I didn't start it back when I was first collecting Blu-rays in 2007-2008.

I don't want to pry, but at the same time, my curiosity is getting the better of me. Could you explain very briefly, without getting too deeply into the subject, what you have against Twilight Time?

True! But I have no problems importing either and I'm fully multi-region capable too. It's more picking and choosing.

Absolutely not. My own decision not to support Twilight Time is my own business as a Blu-ray disc collector and something I'd rather not get into.

So basically you don't like the pricing. Understood.

I don't like their prices either, but it's mainly because I can't always afford one of their titles right away. I don't like TT's limited pressings either, but for most of their titles, it's a good call since 3,000 barely sells out within a few years. There's plenty of time to save up for those. I mostly hate the titles that have a demand bigger than 3,000 and sell out before everyone who wanted it can get a copy. TT basically just sits on the rights for those movies while the rest of us have to wait and hope someone else will pick them up once they expire.

I just started buying Harryhausen films on Blu. I haven't seen any of the titles that TT has release, and from the looks of it it'll be a long time before I do, though I would have likely bought from them if they hadn't already sold out.
It would be nice in a few years if someone like Mill Creek could release these few Harryhausen films to budget Blu-rays. They might not be as good, but eh, it wouldn't be much of a downgrade from TT and the prices would be so much more justifying for the barebones content.
