Wow, a slipcover... I'm not sure how Universal decides what should or shouldn't have an extra cover.

I bet the Canadian Blu has no slipcover, just like Beetlejuice or 40 Year Old Virgin & American Gangster HD DVDs.

hello , from Canada . I am new to this site and I love it. To my canadian friends HMV is selling king kong . I got my yesterday.

They shouldn't be, legally. The release is Tuesday but a lot of places I think, thought it was a regular re-stocking title since they all saw it on HD-DVD and SDVD for so long but they could catch some major flak about it from Universal or whatever distributor they buy from. I'd grab it too if they let it past the cash registers but instead of rushing down to an HMV here, I'll just wait for Tuesday. Another post said Best Buy in Canada had them out days ago as well but the Toronto one did not. All the majors here, like HMV, FutureShop, Best Buy, Sunrise and WOrld's Biggest Bookstore are all within a block of each other so they all watch each other very carefully so I'm not surprised it didn't show up early here.

thanks for the welcome. Yes the guy at the register said they were going to get in trouble but he let it go anyways.

This happens a lot but not often enough. I got Sweeney Todd the weekend before it was supposed to be released and there were some people on here that managed to pick up The Dark Knight weeks before release.

It's great but if the stores get caught doing that it could mean fines and delays on carrying that studio's movies in the future.

Exactly you should see what happen to a local Wall-Mart a few years back when they started selling the last Harry Potter book 4 days before release date. Manager figured he would make more money and increase sales. Store got in serious trouble with Wall-Mart management and the manager actualy lost his job. If there is a official release date, they should not fool around with it.

I found King Kong on the selves a few days ago at my local Best Buy. Didn't buy it because I need to start saving my money.

$19.99 at Best Buy. It doesn't get a whole lot better than that (unless you're waiting for the $14.99 Wal-Mart rack).
