Glad to see there's so many Hitch fans/lovers/likers. I'm a lover, not a fan.

I think I read that The Birds was going through a restoration also. Perhaps Universal will release it next year.

This is great news and I will be waiting for them to put it on the shelf. But why is the UK getting it two months earlier?

I bought this about two years ago, and the quality is really good. I'm not sure how much better the quality can get with an old black & white film, but we'll see. Double dip?

I can't believe people are still posting uninformed comments like this.

No, they don't, and no, they won't. If you want Psycho in color, u might as well watch the awful remake.

I was considering buying the 2 disc special edition DVD for $15 at Walmart. I'm glad I held off because this is even better. I'll probably ask this as birthday gift, October 16th isn't too far off from my actual birthday.

I caught it recently on Turner Clasic Movies (the hi-def version of this great channel), and it looked pretty awesome!!!!

I'm new to posting on the forums. Give me a break. I'm not sure how my comment was "unimformed". Perhaps you can inform me? :l

Well welcome to the forums! The reason it's a "uninformed" comment is because B&W films can actually look quite impressive on blu-ray.

Try looking at some B&W Criterion Collection (CC) titles such as Vivre Sa Vie, Wages of Fear, Yojimbo/Sanjuro, The 400 Blows, and The Third Man (Out of Print - hard to find at decent price), and Dr. Strangelove (Sony digibook). For some examples of some classic color catalog titles refer to North by Northwest, Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz, and Dr. Zhivago if you want to see what other color films from around the same time frame can look like on blu. All of these have really great AQ/PQ . It's really quite astonishing. Consider yourself informed now.

I hope the Maltese Falcon gets a Warner Digibook release, and I hope Psycho at least gets some disc art (really am not going to get my hopes up for that, but it wont' sway me toward not purchasing it). They've already said it's not going to be a flipper disc so that's good.

I may just replace the disc in my "Alfred Hitchcock Master Collection".
