um... no genre of music is incapable of originality, and all music is made out of noise.

and if neither pac or biggie are in your top 5 your credibility is in question.
since i said it 1st... rap is something u do hip hop is something u live! rappers make rap music (will smith, jeezy, that kid w/ the "superman" song etc.) hip hop music is made by EMCEES! (Talib, common, etc.) EMCEES focus on lyrics rappers rely on beats & arent too concerned with what they say. rappers are more prone to lie about their lives because they see it as profitable , whereas Emcees do it for the love of the culture . so with that in mind i present my top 5 emcees...krs one, rakim, nas, talib kwali, common! im interested in your 5....cuz lyrically my top 5 are fire.biggie might be top 5-15, he only had 2 albums!!! pac lost me w/ all that thug life so he might be between 15- 30 for me.

Here's my top 5 if you want to know.

1.Nas (best emcee of all time IMO)
2.Q-Tip (Tribe)
3.Mos Def
4.KRS-One
5.Kanye West (yes I said Kanye West. Only reason why I listen to rap/hip hop today. Also most of this mainstream artist are crap)

Others that come to mind:
Big Pun
Common
Ghostface
Canibus
Biggie
Pac
LL Cool J
Kool G Rap
this can go on and on!

if kanye is the only reason youre listening to rap today, then you arent really looking...all those other rappers are easily better than kanye...not saying he sucks

I think that's a nationwide thing with Blockbuster. I checked on Tuesday morning when I went to rent Benjamin Button (also not available) and they still didn't get Notorious in on Blu-ray. Got for free on SD later in the day.

Nice! Mine is similar except I'd replace Andre 3000 with Mos Def and replace Jay-Z with Redman! B.I.G. is number one for me!

I'll never understand why people like you come into a thread dedicated to something that you don't like just to call it crap! People like you make me sick! If everyone went into threads of things that they didn't like, this would be one f*cked up forum!

Thanks for your input though

I also think that's a great list, except I replace Andre 3000 with KRS-One, and switch around the order of the other guys...

1. Notorious B.I.G.
2. Nas
3. Jay-Z
4. KRS-One
5. Tupac

I think we should start a hip-hop thread at the off topic forum.
