I gave them a call today, but the person in charge wasn't available. They are supposed to send me an email with details on shipping costs. I asked them for the cost of shipping for multiple copies as well to see if spreading out the costs for a group would work. I should have something later in the afternoon (east coast) and will post back any news.

I would buy into a group buy on this title...it seems like this title will be one of the harder ones to get ones hands on..

Nothing yet guys, but I called again to follow-up. They guy is not in the office at the moment but got my message and confirmed that he would send me an email with all the details (I also asked that he confirm that it is indeed a steelbook). I'll stay on top of this and will relay any new info as soon as I get it.

Just got off the phone with dvd internacional ... well, my wife did ... Im a little weary on this guys ... but they are gonig to send me an email with all their blu-ray steelbooks they have available.

He said the reason why he isnt selling King Kong yet is that he is still waiting for all the packaging to be produced from steelbook .... so that sounds legit right?

Here is the weird thing, seems like it may be a one man operation since my wife thinks it was his wife that answered the phone as the person answering didnt know anything and was just like "hello" ... he talked about shipping via fed ex tho which is good cuz id assume it would atleast mean we could get the stuff haha ... im just weary of this being some professional looking bootleg ... cause when my dad came back from argentina (goes a few times ayear) he brought me back some pro looking ones (although no blu-ray) ... I can place orders through him but I dont think by any means a group buy should be done until an order is placed or pictures are seen to atleast not get screwed cause I dont think this is an outfit BY NO MEANS that will do refunds ....

Ofcourse, I wont completely knock a one man operation just yet, cause jwbbud does a good job could this be the argentina JW ?

I was told of some "other" blu-ray steelbook titles im almost embarrased to repeat LOL if they are not "real" lol ... but if they are, WOW ... yall will go crazy!!

I'll just say one for now .... Godfather trilogy blu-ray steelbook .... (I know this came out on DVD so I kept telling my wife SURE ITS BLU-RAY!? ...he kept saying yes ... so I said for him to send me pictures ... so im really interested to see some pics)

He also said he had some from Brazil ....

South America runs rampant on bootlegs like thailand, so watch out folks.

Yeah, I would not do a thing until I see pictures to confirm that these are SteelBooks, and even then I would be weary...

Why go through the trouble of producing fake Steels? I mean, first of all, it's illegal, as we know. But the thing is, wouldn't the company ask for the studio's approval and stuff first?

No, but this could be Metal Pak or some other metal casing other than genuine SteelBook.

He was hip to steelbook ... so who knows, but for all we know, they DO order SB packaging and then burn blu-rays (which may not be actual blu-rays obviously) and then put those in there and then shrink wrap them ... Cause Steelbook doesnt produce the blu-rays correct, they just make the packaging?

I agree with Kynch. Why go through the expense to create a BD steelbook if the disc is a bootleg. It seems unlikely to mee unless it is not an actual steelbook case.

I would get King King but only if it is confirmed to be an authentic steelbook package, but I am not interested in a tin outer case in which a standard Amray rests within.

It may be that King Kong is indeed being released on blu-ray steelbook in certain countries in South America. We are only aware of it because of DVD International's web site. Does anyone know of any other etailers/retailers in South America? Perhaps other sellers can confirm that King Kong BD steelbook is indeed being released in South America.

Wreck: Thanks for checking into this for us. Please give Mrs. Wreck a high-five from me.

Halamadrid: Please let us know what you find out when they respond to you.

Ok. I just spent over half an hour with the guy on the phone and in my opinion the site is legit. It's a web based business that's pretty spread out in the southern cone (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, etc.) and they have connections with movie editors down there. They try to specialize in special editions of movies (Steelbooks, special packagings, etc.) because that's the only way to survive in that market. Well, I could just go on, but I'm sure you guys just care about the matter at hand. This would in fact be a Steelbook, the guy knows the difference between that and metal paks, tins, etc. Basically, what's happening is that the studios are starting to manufacture discs down there (the same way they do in Mexico) and they have deals with the editors to have some exclusive special editions. He expects this one to be out in April, but probably later than April 16. He tells me that because of the economic situation this printing has been somewhat delayed. They will be doing short runs in terms of the printing of these Steelbooks to see how they sell, but he is expecting the first batch in late April. Note that he told me that with the local editors for these movies he tells me of situations where movies are announced only to be pulled back later because they are just getting started manufacturing the movies down there. Nonetheless, King Kong does seem a bit more certain to come out at this point.

In terms of shipping, he mentioned that the cheapest way is through a local courier (EMS) that works with USPS here, so that's how the package would be delivered although other (more expensive methods) are available. This method does provide tracking. Please note that I've used this courier before as I have purchased books from Argentina in the past and it is legit. Normally 500 grams runs $20, but purchasing multiple copies up to 4-5kg (15-20 SBs) would be about $110. Oh, and he understands the nature of how these things need to be packed and protected. They also take payments via PayPal.

To all this, the guy wasn't trying to get my order or get a credit card or anything like that. For the most part, we spoke about special editions of movies that have come out. He even mentioned trying to get the CE for Twilight but was shot down because of the AZ exclusive.

In terms of Steelbooks down the line, he mentioned that their plan is to have limited runs of movies that have done well in the box office. He mentioned that they may get a Dark Knight SB and Harry Potter SBs. In terms of more concrete plans he mentioned a Godfather Trilogy SB (Coppola Restoration) coming that would look just like the DVD version (no dates).

In the end, he agreed to follow-up with me on King Kong, but we can't do any orders or anything yet since he doesn't have it and given the delays that this movie has already experienced. Please note that this is not a King Kong SB delay, but a delay in general for the movie. This is one of the first titles being manufactured down there and is supposed to come in the two versions (standard BD, and the SB which is exclusive to his site). Not sure if this takes care of all your questions, but from my end I will keep following up with him without pestering too much. He is also going to keep me updated on any SBs coming down the line.
