The Blu-ray is slightly darker because...I don't know, but it plays back light like the DVD.
lmao dvd sucks and its so old just compare the sizes.

Blu-ray 50GB > dvd 6GB.

Look what I found on youtube. It is a clip of The King King that was shown on ABC a while ago. It is a little choppy, probably because of youtube, but damn, it is sharp. I bet the Blu-ray will look amazing compared to this.

DVD looks better actually. Doesn't suffer from all those compression artifacts made obvious on top of the plain colors used in the movie. But the Lion King DVD is one of the best I've seen.

Also, I have that 720p ABC recording. Now I think twice before downloading "HD" movies recorded from TV.

I know! People I've shown it too (across MSN for example) approve of the tie in particular. It's not an important detail, but it adds to the picture now that it's there more recognisably.

you know guys, I love blu-ray A LOT... not that anyone here even has to say that being as we spend time at a blu-ray dedicated forum...

but this does seem like a weird move from disney. I don't know how I'd feel as a reviewer being forced to have a blu-ray player to review all of the features. granted, I wouldn't complain too much because it IS above all disney's choice, but I can understand being bothered.

that being said, people being bothered lose any chance of convincing me when they start arguing blu-ray doesn't make a difference. that's just ignorant.

So is it to be released after Beauty and the Beast? If so, then it would be a Spring 2011 release if you follow their release schedule for the DVDs.

I had to reply to her:

"Johanna,

As far as I'm concerned if you're not capable of reviewing a Blu-ray disc yet what exactly does your review have to offer that other don't? Because I'm assuming you don't even have a proper display to make any kind of valid assessment. If you did, you'd likely already have a blu-ray player due to the amazing picture it offers on your proper display which you don't have (obviously)..

There are other sites (blogs for that matter) that offer expertise. If you're still debating if Blu-Ray is a worthy successor to DVD I really have no interest in your opinion.."

I'd say it's more about encouraging those hangers-on to upgrade. There's an SD DVD included that they can watch anyway. Don't forget this is also online press, and online press is focused toward the enthusiast and not Joe Six-pack, and the online enthusiast wants Blu-ray

Default You can buy Blu-ray drives for computers, ands portable players are soon to come.....

From Johanna,

"""I believe that Blu-Ray looks and sounds better, but it’s not enough of an improvement for most people to justify rebuying at higher prices, especially when they can play DVDs in more places (due to computer drives and portable machines).""""

Johanna you can kiss my rump. I have repurchasd every DVD title I own that is on Blu-ray and have been floored by the improvement. I have also successfully encouraged others to do so. Patton, Cars, Ratatouille, WALL-E, Swordfish, and I, Robot were well worth the extra money I paid for the Blus.

Reader's Digest:

Disney will not be sending reviewers DVD review copies of their upcoming releases, only Blu-Ray review copies. One particular online reviewer is not pleased about this.

The retail Blu-Ray release of Pinocchio will include a standard DVD (as was done with Sleeping Beauty).

Agreed.

The film is 70 years old now and a remarkable restoration job has been performed on it. This coupled with the superiority of Blu-ray makes it the ultimate way to experience it; the sights, the sounds, the artistry, etc. All of which are SUPERIOR in representation on Blu-ray.

David S' comment is downright laughable.
