It does make me appreciate them a bit more, though nothing can really save TPM from being a horrible film.

If anything it proves that Lucas wasn't just phoning it in, he really was trying to put out the best film he could. Just didn't live up to the original trilogy unfortunately

If no steelbooks are released, I'll get the standard 4Ks. By that time, they'll probably be available for a lower price, so bonus. I can wait.

There's no doubt that both of these gentlemen brought something to Star Wars and likely improved it beyond what George could have done on his own. That's the nature of a good collaboration, but if Kersh and Marq are the true talents behind the saga, I'd like to hear which of their non-Star Wars movies you guys would recommend as being more visionary than THX-1138, American Graffiti or the original Star Wars.

I'm not being entirely facetious here. I'd rather eat crow and be introduced to a rare gem from 1970s or 1980s American cinema than be right about the motives of some people on these boards. And for the record, I've only ever seen Kersh's Eyes of Laura Mars and Never Say Never Again, and never seen any Marquand, so I'll be the first to admit, their filmographies--good, bad, or indifferent--are something of a blind spot for me.

I'm calling some bluffs. Let's see who takes me up on it.

And let's not forget Kurts spent his last years talking about him leaving SW because all the good things they accomplished with IV and V (he speaks like he was the co-creator of the whole thing) didn't happened for VI because Lucas rejected his ideas.
Usually those discussions with him saying he got to do more interesting things after SW V. And to this day, I still wonder what these marvelous projects were exactly, I only see Dark Crystal.

I've only seen Never Say Never Again and RoboCop 2, both of which were pretty dire. However, the quotes from Kershner in the Annotated Screenplays suggest that he did have a fair bit of say in how Empire was made, can't recall any specific examples but I know there are times when (he says) he wanted to do it his way and Lucas initially disagreed but eventually went with Kershner's ideas.

Never seen any Marquands but isn't Jagged Edge supposed to be a good flick?

Edge is good for what it is.
And Robo2 is only bad compared to the first.

How are you all displaying the box set on your shelf? I bought a book display stand, but the bottom lip isn't a right angle so I can't set it directly on it. It's been surprisingly difficult to find something that will work.

Does anyone know how the standard blurays compare with the new Disney releases versus the older fox releases like the complete saga? Anything other than aspect ratios?

This may have been posted already but is there a breakdown of what Bonus Features that were on previous releases [bluray or DVD] that did not make it onto the box?

Also where you can find those bonus features.

They could have made one more slot next to the Rise Of Skywalker bonus disc in the box and put in everything but the kitchen sink to really make this set complete.

Beatles did it with the Past Masters release and that was included in their respective stereo or mono box sets.

Oh well I guess in a few years the Ultimate Saga box will be released with everything including all of the store exclusives and digital exclusives.

I had the exact same thought - all the stuff from the old DVD box set and the two vintage documentaries from the 2011 set would've been enough to make me buy. But they didn't, and so neither did I.

Picked up my Target order. TPM, AOTC, and TFA all have light scratches on the 4K disc . TPM is in the worst shape. If they were going be cheap and stack discs I wish it wasn't the 4K. Hopefully they play OK.

I've learnt that when it comes to Star Wars home video releases... Keep everything!

There's always something that hasn't been carried over.

It would be so easy for Disney to just put the 4K disc on the bottom and stack the least important Bonus Disc on top.

It took a while for the CD manufacturers using CD cardboard covers to make sure:
1. The glue is dry [google the issues with the complete Miles Davis box set]
2. Put the fold so it is upward which means the label side will be touching the crease and not putting a mark on the CD

For the most part they FINALLY got it but now CDs are dying so it doesn't matter anymore.

I just looked at the post rotatingfish sent me. Wow there's a lot of missing stuff. I'm going to buy that Sith Walmart Bonus DVD on ebay.

I always see the prequel DVDs for $1 at the record stores. So I'll hunt those down. Gives me something to look for.
