Yeah looks nice, for me I just like to have them framed regularly, besides the gal who does my framing would not be happy. :-)

Got my TFA poster. Good lord. My 4 year old can take care of things better than DMR.

Whatever. Free is free.

I legitimately just had a panic attack over the BvS posters, hope I can get a hold of them... also just realized how geeky I am, freaking out over paper.

WHEW!

Both of the copies I got just have about 1/8" deep of damage on only 2" of one corner.

Easily hidden by frame or lightbox.

Gonna keep one, probably sell or store the other.

hopefully someone in here can help me out.

looking at the iron man poster in this picture....you can see some "bubbling".....i guess that's the best way to describe it......does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this??

it was in a crappy frame for a while.....i've picked up some nicer/newer/more sturdy frames.....but the bubbling/warping really bothers me.

and i've tried finding a new poster online.....not happening.

thanks guys!!

The bubbling could be from gravity, the poster isn't being held tight enough against the glass. You may need to add another layer of foam core backing in order to tighten it up, or you could use shims.

It could also be from moisture, it looks like you have them in a damp basement, that is a dehumidifier isn't it?

i could try another piece of backing......the old frame it was in was pretty crappy. i'm thinking the bubbling is a result of the frame it was in previously.

the new frames have foam backing and clips that go between the foam and the frame.

not entirely sure moisture is an issue. i have 5 other posters down there and none of the other ones are experiencing the issue at all.

the dehumidifier was put in after work was done on the basement and we had some drain tile and new concrete poured. things got pretty wet in areas and i wanted to get that moisture out of the air. it doesn't even run now in the winter when it's turned on.

Then space between the glass and poster is the issue. Is the ripples there when the poster is out of the frame?

yes. so like you said earlier, gravity could have played a part in it from that other frame.

i noticed when i was wiping it down the other day.....if i press the plexiglass....or whatever it is.....against the poster, the wrinkles smooth out. so hopefully another piece of backing will work.

since i'll have to go through the hassle of taking the springs out of the back of the foamboard again, i may roll the poster up around a christmas wrapping paper roll good and tight for a couple of weeks and see if that happens to do anything w/the poster itself.

You should put it between 2 pieces of foam core backing and put some weight on it. Keep it like that for a few weeks and see if that helps.

I will chime in on the ripples issue you are having. Underworld is correct, it really comes down to gravity. But at the same time it isn't a major deal unless it is driving you crazy. The only way really to get rid of those ripples is to dry mount the poster. I stress all the time never to do that to an original movie poster, but I believe you mentioned yours was 24x36 inches, so you opted for a reprint. If that is the case, then simply have the poster drymounted. It is a permanent process but it will remove the ripples from it. Any good frame shop can do it, and since it is a reprint there is no value to the poster with regards to collectibility so you won't be losing value, instead you will be taking care of the issue at hand.

If that was an original poster, I would say to talk to a professional framer and explain that you would not want it dry mounted but you want to be able to lose the ripples, etc. Having it loose between the glass (or plexiglass) and the backing of the frame is ideal for originals because you aren't altering the original condition of the poster, but with regards to a reprint, if that is the only issue you have are the ripples, remove the poster, have it dry mounted and then have it put back in the frame.

All of my posters regardless if they are single-sided or double-sided that are framed are loose between the UV glass and acid-free backing. I live with the ripples because I know they aren't dry mounted and that is the trade off. There spaces that can be placed between the frame and the poster but I am worried those over time could cause indentations into the poster in all four corners.

The Iron Man teaser advance is a very difficult, highly sought after poster. There were UV-coated glossy ones put out and non-glossy ones out there. This poster was really the first poster in the start of the Marvel Universe films reboot per say. No one really knew what to expect from that film, but it turned out to be a massive hit, paving the way for several more Marvel-related superhero films. The teaser advance will only get more and more difficult to find, and prices will continue to rise over the years because Iron Man is a major character in the Marvel universe. I was quite fortunate to be able to stock that poster in large quantities and I still have a fairly good amount of them left, others who have them may have a small handful, but it is certainly a nice poster to have, especially the UV-coated glossy ones which is what I have, giving off almost a wet look to the front of the poster. The $150 price tag you see is common actually.

Good information. I will definitely be buying one from you as soon as I have a little extra cash on hand after the holidays. I need to just bite the bullet. It's my favorite Marvel film and one of my three favorite Marvel characters.

lets put it this way......i bought a Toshiba LED tv on black friday for $150 and use it as a digital poster frame in my home theater.....i'm not about to drop $150 on a single paper poster.

i think i paid $10 for the iron man poster when i got it from allposters.com......the frame it's in right now was $70.

i won't be buying a new poster.....or any poster for that matter......for that kind of money.
