That’s pretty crazy. I ordered last night and quickly got a shipping confirmation but it’s not in the USPS system yet so I’m not sure when it will get here.

Finally arrived along with Death Before Dishonor (Blu). 4K is stunning. Best I've seen it in 40 years!

For example, compare this new 4K audio mix against the old US Bluray mix at 59:01 when he tells Barin "You know it yourself. Ming is the enemy of all people on Mongo. Let's team up and fight him." Flash's voice sounds weird, a little robotic like Kyltus in the 4K mix. It doesn't in the blu-ray mix. Last edited by Qaenos; 08-22-2020 at 07:44 PM. |

Hope it’s via 2-day shipping so it doesn’t end up sitting around somewhere. |

Quickest 4k from purchase to play. Took about 20 minutes from the time I took it out of the mailbox until I started playing the movie.
The 4k is gorgeous. The colors are crazy and the 4k scan, from what I could see, was very well done. Probably the most fun I've had watching this movie since I saw it in the theater at the age of six. |

On the old Blu-ray the fact that the sparks are blown out/clipping in all three channels but still have a strong green tint means that the tint was not on the film originally but added digitally during the color grading.
That in turn means either A) the old grade was too extreme and not correct or B) they forgot to add some green effect that wasn't on the negative when grading this new master. Not really knowing anything about the movie the latter seems like kind of a big thing to completely forget about considering it was director-approved, so the former case is probably more likely. First time seeing this glorious bit of silliness. Really enjoyed it.
Can only imagine how long time fans must feel seeing this 4K transfer. This transfer is great. Studio Canal are fast becoming my favourite 4K studio with their left-field titles and 5-star treatment of films. Really feels like they value putting out decent products for film fans. |

Thanks for this explanation. I'll give it another look on my TV. I did watch the Blu Ray on my 1080p Projector, but on my TV, the scene is shown in the archival interview with Lorenzo Semple Jr. and it's much greener. Whatever the reason, I guess I just have to live with my preference. But thank you to all who responded to my question. I love the restoration. I does look more natural. But this was one scene where I felt the old blu ray wins, despite the unnatural noise reduction, sharpening, etc. |
